Is my LH surge too late?

Hi ladies Smile
I’ve been silently following some other threads for a few weeks now but it’s time for me to ask my own question!

A bit of background: I was on the pill for 10/11 years and stopped taking it at the end of July - so far I’ve had 2 natural cycles. My reason for going on the pill was due to horrible cramps but since coming off it I’ve not had any (YAY) and my period now seems to be pretty light and 3/4 days long. My first cycle post pill was 27 days and my last was 26.

OK question time.. I’ve been waiting for my LH surge for over a week now and I finally got the dark line today (cycle day 16) BUT according to Clue my period should be here in 11 days. From what I’ve been reading this sounds like a short luteal phase and I. AM. FREAKING. OUT. because I keep seeing that ovulating less than 12 days before your next period isn’t great.

Do any of you ladies have any experience with this or have you had your surge late but still conceived?! Thanks in advance xx

**Sorry, I was wrong. Today is cycle day 17 so 10 days before my predicted next period.

Lots of people ovulate at different times each cycle, ie at one month day 14 and then the next day 17, so it is possible that your cycle is totally normal and that your period will just be due later this month. Plus as your still quite new coming off the pill it takes quite a few months for your body to settle down into a regular cycle. I don't think you should worry just yet, the luteal phase can vary quite a lot from woman to woman, I believe ranging from 10-17 days. If you are concerned maybe go speak to your gp, xx

I meant then the next month at day 17**

@sarahc336 thank you for the pep talk. I keep trying to remind myself of all of that but I'm very much a glass half empty kind of girl.. the wrong attitude to be going into TTC with 🤦🏻‍♀️ I suppose I'll just have to wait and see when AF comes this month and the next few.. fingers crossed.

My luteal phase is 10-11 days. I have conceived twice but sadly both ended in MC. I have raised this specifically with GP who dismissed it being an issue backed up by the fact I've conceived twice. I've had hormone tests on day 2 and also 7 days before period and both have come back normal. I do sometimes wonder if it does play a role but I wouldn't worry just yet. I take a B-50 vitamin complex which is supposed to help with lengthening luteal phase. Hasn't for me but has stopped spotting pre-period. Definitely good to keep tracking your cycles and seeing what patterns emerge so that if you do decide to see a GP you've got a good picture of what's going on. All the best with your TTC journey! :)

@PricklyPear123 I'm so sorry you had to go through that 😔 sometimes I feel like GP's go through a standard checklist and don't really listen to your concerns.. I'll have a read about the B-50, thanks for your suggestion. All the best to you too xx
