TTC without monitoring ovulation

Hi ,

Has anyone started TTC without consciously watching your ovulation days ? I don’t think it’ll be good for my mental health to DTD solely on when I’m ‘most fertile’
I just want someone to say they understand and have succeeded in TTC by DTD every other day or so and it not become stressful. All I’ve read about is monitor your ovulation etc

I am 24 btw

I'm not doing any ov sticks or temps or anything - mainly because I can't be bothered. I do usually have fairly obvious symptoms around ovulation, so I sort of guesstimate my fertile window and aim for every 2-3 days during that. Conceived in 1st month with #1, now on 2nd month for #2.

GaaaaarlicBread · 27/09/2019 22:32

@MissisBee thank you . I have recently had the coil out and haven’t had a period since being on it for three years so I’ve never been sure of ovulation each month due to not keeping track of AF . We’ll see . Thank you for the reassurance , I feel less mad now x

I've been tracking and TTC for 7 months and I've decided I'm gunna stop tracking and stuff because I've got obsessed and stressed! I'm 24 too! :)

rosina38 · 28/09/2019 11:23

Yep DTD every other day or every 2 days and got pregnant in the third month of trying

GaaaaarlicBread · 27/11/2019 18:28

@Tbug hi hope you dont mind me commenting. Im in the same boat. Ive been TTC for the last 2 months after coming off the pill. The ovulation tracking has been doing my head in considering my cycles not even normal yet! Ive decided to dtd regularly and see how i get on. Baby dust to everyone who is TTC x

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2019 20:35

That's what we used to do back in the day before ovulation tests were available. We just used to DTD regularly, every other day or so & hope for the best. I knew roughly when I was ovulating as my cycle was very regular, so I guess we did concentrate on trying round then. I'm certain it was a lot less stressful than it is nowadays, when there's so much information around & you can track everything. I think it would've done my head in, tbh.

Also, we only used to do pregnancy tests when we were at least a few days late, because tests were expensive & not as sensitive. I've only ever done three tests in my life, one for each of my children. This was back in the mid-90s, by the way - one of my DC is 24 like two of you on here Grin

Good luck with TTC, btw.

Bluebell1989 · 27/11/2019 20:49

@DramaAlpaca awh thank you. You are very right there are so many things to track nowadays it can be very overwhelming. Definitely going to try your way and dtd and leave it at that. If it is meant to happen it will happen x

Siobhan1989 · 27/11/2019 20:54

I got pregnant second cycle and I never tracked ovulation. Just have sex every 2-3 days and you’ll be fine x

FREEM · 27/11/2019 20:56

agree with siobhan.
sex every second day is the best way

ShadowSpiral · 27/11/2019 21:03

We did that with DC1 and DC2 - didn’t try tracking ovulation, DTD every 2 - 3 days.
I got pregnant quickly - 1st cycle with DC1, 2nd cycle with DC2.

I might have started looking into tracking ovulation etc if it hadn’t happened as quickly as it did.

Bluebell1989 · 27/11/2019 21:06

@Siobhan1989 @FREEM thank you ladies.

Lucy5546 · 27/11/2019 23:38

@Itsemily hope you dont mind me jumping on. I recently came off the pill. Had my withdrawal bleed straight away. Ovulated and had AF in 28 days. I had my first proper period only lasted about 4 days and was really light.
I havnt tracked ovulation yet as i thnk it would become more of a headache to keep track but i have been taking notes on my CM and Cervix!!

Hi @Bluebell1989 i think you commented on another thread im on. Im not using OPKs or temping. Like you i dont know if my cycles are regular yet so i feel i need to get to know my cycle before i dive into all that.

I feel like im going mad already trying to analyse my symptoms

Bluebell1989 · 27/11/2019 23:48

Hi @Lucy5546 yes i did . Tell me about it! Im driving myself mad also. Eapecially as AF hasn't arrived yet. A new day tomorrow and I'm definitely not going to try and stress. Let me know how you get on x

Tbug · 28/11/2019 06:47

Hi :) I'm on month 11 🙄🙄🙄

Sipperskipper · 28/11/2019 06:50

With DD who is 2.5, I got pregnant from the one time we had sex that month!

MsChatterbox · 28/11/2019 07:11

If you dtd every other day you stand just as good a chance as if you use opks. For me personally, dtd every other day would be stressful for me due to work schedules etc. So opks were the less stressful option.

GaaaaarlicBread · 28/11/2019 07:55

Thanks everyone !

DH is not into me doing OPKs and he seems to know if I’m monitoring things , I must act differently lol . We are onto the next month now as AF has just finished so fingers crossed ! At least I know roughly what my cycle is now after the coil removal , it’s just I rarely hear stories about people trying to conceive but without tracking. You either hear tracking stories or accidental pregnancies haha . So thanks for this , I’ve met some lovely ladies on this site since I posted this who are in the same boat which is nice (strangely).
@rosina38 we are kind of going into our third month if we count October as TTC but we didn’t really give it our best shot whereas this month we really tried but DH was on call a few times so that screwed things up a little bit I think now my body has had a second period we might be ok !

@Bluebell1989 I had issues with my cycles too after coming off the Mirena Coil as I didn’t have periods at all and hadn’t even thought about ovulation so it really threw me ! I didn’t even know where to start !

Hope you don't mind me jumping on☺️
I'm loving the idea of not tracking... sounds like it could cause some stress and become obsessive.

I'm off my pill 💊 weekish.. been spotting a little bleeding a little no idea what's happening can feel noticeable lower stomach and back ache and the sudden urge to jump hubbys bones lol 😆

jenna30 · 28/11/2019 23:35

@Elmlee welcome to the club 🙌🏾
