One step test is positive and frer negative?? Which do I trust?

I had a very clear positive one-step strip test two days ago and one today as well. The lines are pink too. I've used the exact same batch for my last pregnancy which ended in miscarriage, but I've never had an issue.

I took a frer this morning using the same batch of fmu that I used for the strip test and it came back negative. Honestly, I'm beginning to question the reliability of frer! I've had nothing but issues with them so far😅 they're meant to be more sensitive than the one step too. Which one do I trust? Realistically, I feel inclined to doubt the strip test but I also know that you CAN NOT get a pink second line on any test without there being the HCG hormone.

Thoughts? I am very early, around 9 DPO (10 days before my period but I ovulated very early this cycle.)

I had exactly the same. Had a line on the strip so did an FRER and nothing BFN
2 days until my period so I'll see what happens then.

Unsure if there is dodgey batches around or I've had a CP but suppose time will tell when AF turns up GOOD LUCK XXXX

@Lucylou22039 It's so annoying, isn't it? Even if it was a chemical pregnancy the test should still show it if one does. I've just dipped a one step strip into a cup of water and I'm currently waiting for it to dry to see if it's positive. It's been 15 minutes and so far there's nothing there. I just want to know! I have a tattoo booked in for friday and I need to be sure if I'm pregnant or not. I'm not even sure when my period is supposed to be tbh. I appear to have ovulated really early so never know!

Well my period is due Wednesday/Thursday this week so I'll keep you updated. Just been reading a few of the other boards and there seems to be similar stories about about IC and FRERs soo we're not alone. How many dpo??? Xx

Why do you keep testing? Genuinely curious.

@Lucylou22039 Yes, I've noticed that too. But a lot of people have also been having troubles with frer. One time I did actually get a false positive on them, when no other test showed anything. I don't know why I keep using them lol. I'm 9dpo roughly. And it's been over 20 minutes and the one I dipped into water is completely negative. I may invest in a clear blue something and test in a week or so. xx

@mrbob Well, I originally took a frer when I had the positive one step for confirmation. But since it came up negative, I took another two tests two days later (today) to see what's up. I wouldn't have if the results were the same, but since they're not I don't actually know if I'm pregnant or not.

Did you end up getting a clear blue nikola iv had 4 positives on clear blue these passed couple of days but negative on first response

@Mumof388 I'm not sure if I'm having a chemical pregnancy tbh, although that could just be my anxiety as my last pregnancy was a miscarriage. I did take a clear blue yesterday and there was a faint line, which I was surprised at because it has a 25mIU sensitivity and one step (the ones I got positives on) has a 10mIU sensitivity. My period is due today so it's only a waiting game now.

I've honestly found frer to not be as good as people say they are. They've messed me around more than anything and it's much harder to get a false positive than a negative.
