Is there anyone 35 years old or over trying to conceive their first child? What are some of the thing that you are doing to increase your chances?

@MissBridgetJones I’m sorry to hear that. I understand the desire to want a child so much; however, it shouldn’t be at the expense of your own health. You may very well be able to have the two as it doesn’t sound, from what you have said, that it is impossible. I hope things work out for you.

Have you considered talking to a professional about this? You need care and support. The TTC journey is not an easy one for many.

@claireb707 me too, I wasted far too many years on a man who seemed right at the time but wasn't really invested in things even when he said he was 🙄 I've now found the perfect man who's passionate about our future and truly committed to creating our family, so I'm desperately hoping it's not too late🤞🏼 (I'm 37 next month)

IV just found this thread and I'm over joyed! I'll be 40 in January, I have 4 kids (had to previous eptopics. My partner has none so we decided to try. Bought a cbfm and fell straight away. Sadly MC at 9+ weeks so badly I went into cervical shock and had to be ressucitated, we decided I'm immortal so we'd keep going but have been spotting through every period since June ☹️! Having a scan next week to make sure all is well. I'd really recommend cbfm as they pick up those hormones and I ovulate way earlier than any app predicts also! Heres to making babies ❤️ xx

MrsMc2019 · 04/09/2019 07:08

Hi I'm turning 40 in April and currently ttc our 1st but I have a high BMI.

I had a blighted ovum earlier this year so feeling positive is difficult.

AF due today but so far no sign of her, I had some brown CM yesterday at 13dpo but that seems to be fading away today so tried a FRER but it was BFN - no idea what's going on! Getting married two weeks tomorrow so maybe wedding stress is causing things to play up.

I take folic acid, we both take the his and hers pregnacare conception and use baby start lubricant. I did decide to take a variety of supplements I'd researched but after four months we decided to stop all of them and just move on to the pregnacare.

MrsMc2019 · 04/09/2019 07:11

I forgot to say I had fertility testing last March and everything came back ok and I went back to my Dr last month who reassured me everything was still ok (even with weight and age!) she reminded me I did fall pregnant despite the BO. The only issue she highlighted was stress so I've been going to reiki.

Welcome to all the new posters.

@Elles1980 I agree with you about the monitor. I don’t want to endorse it yet but I was surprised to learn from it that I ovulated much earlier than the app I was using predicted. I used it for the first time this cycle. I was low for approximately 4 days, then I went straight to peak. I so hope it works! But if not the first time, I’ll keep trying so I will make the most of the monitor – as it’s not cheap!

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining.

I have just turned 37 and have just never been in a position where I have considered having children, but since recently getting married it's all I can think about! We have only started trying last month so I'm not long into the journey and am all over the CB OPk and have started using Conceive Plus.

Fingers crossed it happens for us, and all of you guys xx

I’m 41 and due in 6 weeks. Lost a bub last year so, because early menopause runs in the family, I decided to get onto fertility acupuncture straight away. I think that definitely helped. Also took myo inositol, Maca powder, folate, pregnancy vitamins, iron, Co-Q10 and we used Preseed. DH and I decided to go at it every morning and evening during my fertile window, even though we’d been told by specialists to do it every second day. I got pregnant straight away and it’s the healthiest pregnancy so far.

Oh and I have a low egg count for my age.

Uuummmm · 04/09/2019 12:54

Oh and I had my first DC at 39. We had tried a round of IUI because of my egg count, didn’t work but I got pregnant naturally the next cycle. A surprise to everyone!

Rainforestandshine · 04/09/2019 13:41

@Gidgetsprinkles We don’t mind you joining at all. It’s good to discuss these issues with people of a similar age. I think it’s more relatable.

@Uuummmm congratulations. I have to admit that I did have a chuckle when you said how often you and your husband DTD during your fertile window. You must both be pretty fit. Haha! Did you conceive in your first cycle?

Elles1980 · 04/09/2019 17:28

@Uuummmm how the heck did you fit that in haha! Made me lol that did! I agree it's nice to see positive stories and also to be able to relate to others in similar situations. I'm a massive worrier and have really high anxiety which I don't think helps me at all. So having these boards is super helpful for me because I'd drive everyone around me mental else lol!
@MrsMc2019 I also have a high BMI and during my MC in may the gyne said that was no reason for me not to try again so that reassured me. I may look into something to help the stress levels come down. I think I feel a little more pressure because I have 4 children already but my poor oh is desperate to be a daddy and I feel I'm letting him down. Also super worried about this bleeding all of the time but hopefully my scan on Monday will shed a little light on that. I think the cbfm are amazing I bought my friend one when she started TTC and she also fell first month! There defo expensive but worth it xx

Uuummmm · 04/09/2019 21:13

Ha ha it was hard work, especially as my husband was up at 3:30 am for work and not home until 6! Let’s just just say we had our eyes on the prize!! 😂 we did the same for the previous pregnancy too, and that’s when we fell pregnant.

Yep, this pregnancy was first cycle, I really think the fertility acupuncture helped massively (especially as I’m quite anxious) plus all the bits and bobs I was taking. Plus being at it like rabbits. Very, very tired rabbits!! 😂

Sunflowers211 · 04/09/2019 21:31

I was 38 when I had my youngest. I did nothing different at all.

Albgo · 04/09/2019 21:43

I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant with my first. I took pregnacare conception for a couple of months before we started trying, used preseed and did the sperm meets egg plan. Oh, and I'm 38. x

Albgo · 04/09/2019 21:45

Nope, just realised we used conceive plus lubricant (not preseed). x

cavycavy · 04/09/2019 22:34

I was 35 when I had my first (and only) child... I’m 39 in a few days and we have just started TTC again for a DC#2. We realise the odds aren’t in our favour but will give it a year and then look at adoption.

Anyway, back with my first pregnancy I gave up caffeine and alcohol and took folic acid. We DTD every 2-3 days. Conceived on the 2nd cycle.

We’ve only just summoned enough courage to try for another! PND stopped me from having #2 at the ‘normal’ time. It we are both totally ready now. Just hope it all still works down there!!

MrsMc2019 · 05/09/2019 13:37

@Elles1980 I was back at my Dr this morning as I've been taking dizzy spells for over a week (plus I mentioned to her that AF was late - they think everything is just relaxed to anxiety as I've less than two weeks to go now) and I brought up my weight and conception again (they must be sick of hearing it!) but again I was reassured not to worry about that.

If you are looking for any research, this is a good article on diet and lifestyle basics for fertility: fertilityresearchandpractice.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40738-015-0003-4

Custardcreammachine · 02/04/2024 13:49

I know this is an old thread but just wondering OP if you had any success? I'm in a similar position and just found your list of supplements when looking for ways to boost my chances. I'm willing to give anything a shot.
