Breastfeeding 9 months and still no period?! TTC no. 2

Right, so, little man just turned 9 months and my partner and I are looking forward to making baby number two. Fingers crossed!

Thing is - I still haven’t had the AF return since last November. I’m still breastfeeding, so assumed this was why for the first 6 months, but am starting to get a bit worried now.

Is this normal? Anyone been through the same? 9 months and no sign of it yet :(. Anything I can do to encourage the ol’ hormone factory to kick into gear??

how peculiar i thought it came back after a few months my daughter is 3months and still waiting as well.Curious as to others experiences as well.

I fed until 16months and my period never returned. I got pregnant with our 2nd within a couple of weeks of the last feed so it still hasn't! So no advice there, sorry.
I did hear nightweaning can help it return, but I wouldn't do that before 12months personally.

@rosydreams at first I was loving it! No monthly PMS and cramps to worry about - hallelujah! But it’s getting on my nerves now. Hope yours behave and come back on schedule ;)

@platform9andthreequarters ahhh, that is actually really comforting to hear! If it’s just not returned because of bf then I can rest easy. Feeding this bub comes before making another one lol. Glad to hear of someone else that has had long term MIA periods when feeding. I thought it only had that effect for 6 months or so :)

Congrats on pregnancy number 2! X

Despite my DD being a great eater, my periods didn’t return until she was 13 months old when she really cut down on breastfeeds.

Teddyreddy · 28/08/2019 14:43

Mine came back at 10 months both times and a couple of others from my NCT group were similar. Other friends it was a bit longer or only after they stopped feeding. Wish mine had taken longer to come back tbh.

WindsweptEgret · 28/08/2019 14:45

Took 15 months for me, a couple of months for my sister, both breastfeeding on demand.

platform9andthreequarters · 28/08/2019 14:47

@Daisychain12 yeah I didn't mind it at all! Should be best part of 4 years for me with no periods 😁. Most friends still feeding at 12 months did find they came back sooner than mine, but ones with smaller gaps of 18/21months between kids weaned early in order to conceive.

I’ve got to say ladies, this is why I love chats like this. Thank you. I haven’t got a lot of mummy friends to ask random Q’s like this, and you’ve all made me feel a lot more chilled out about it in such a short space of time. Go team! 😂❤️

Sounds like I’m worrying for nothing and it will come back in its own sweet time once LO is weaned. No rush there, so bub number 2 can wait until then hey :)

@WindsweptEgret @rosydreams @MajorFaffington @Teddyreddy xx
