Pregnancy by only having unprotected sex before copper coil removal. [Edited by MNHQ at OP's request]

Wondering what the chances are of this and whether this has happened to anyone?

Has anyone fell pregnant by only having unprotected sex before the copper coil removal?

I had the coil for 2.5 years and experienced extremely heavy periods and lots of spotting. I had it removed 1 week ago (last Monday evening). It was a spur of the moment removal as I was being investigated for spotting and the coil was removed to establish if this was the cause.

It was as all pain and spotting has completely stopped.

But we had sex on the Sunday evening (24 hours before the coil was removed) and my last period started on around 12 July (it’s hard to tell the actual start date due to all the spotting).

What are the chances of me falling pregnant from the sex on Sunday evening given my period dates and the fact the coil was still in there for 24 hours?

Anyone any experience or knowledge?

Sorry, the title is supposed to say BEFORE not after.

Sperm can live for up to 7 days inside your body, so yes since you ovulated around that time you could get pregnant. The copper coil works by stopping the sperm from meeting the egg, so once it has been removed, in theory the sperm and egg could meet again during that week. Good luck !

Me. With our first son, sex just before, then coil out, no sex afterwards and two weeks later a positive clearblue pregnancy test saying 2-3 weeks. They did warn me when I had it out that this could happen!

Ahh really?

I’m hoping that as my period started around 12 July maybe even a few days before that my ovulation date was before the coil was removed. I should be due in the next few days- week.
