Think I'm pregnant and not sure how I feel about it

Did a test last night and this am and got faint but definite visible lines both times. We've been TTC for a since March so I should be thrilled but to be honest I feel a bit flat and uneasy and that it's happened way too soon. Also not sure that I'm definitely pregnant as I haven't even missed a period yet (on CD 27) - do faint lines still count?

Yes, they do - congratulations!!

We ttc for a year and I had some odd feelings (wasn't as ectastic as I thought I would be) when we got the bfp. I think it is very natural to have a range of feelings, and I feel this is an honest response to such a huge event. Nature is very clever and gives us a long time to get used to the idea and in the mean time, there is always MN!!

Faint lines do count. Prob just faint because hormone levels are still low. I TTC for a year with my ds1 but when I did the test I started to think that it was a bit overwhelming and I wasn't ready. Was totally thrilled by next day.

yes faint lines count, congrats. I felt the same the 1st I got preg despite ttc 4 about a yr. I think when u 1st find out the reality of exactly what is involved kicks in. But it soon changed to excitement. I hope u feel better soon

Just feel really daunted by the whole thing and keep thinking that I wish I'd waited longer - not ready to give up my old life. Feel so guilty for feeling this way - should be celebrating. Also, when do you date the pregnancy from? I can only have conceived about 12-13 days ago so would I be two weeks pregnant? Some books say it is dated from the date of your last period so that would make me 4 weeks pregnant not 2. Confused! Also, do you have to give up coffee and diet coke?

is this your first pragnancy then?

Have to say, I felt the same as you. Felt that the baby would intrude on my relationship with dp even. Felt a bit resentful even that my life was about to change so radically and I would have to be all responsible. These thoughts and feelings continued right until I looked at my baby and fell in love.

TotalChaos · 01/08/2007 21:16

it's from LMP, so would be just under 4 weeks PG.

switch to decaff and coke zero. One or two cups of real coffee/caffeinated coke a day should be OK though.

having a baby is a big life change, I think feeling a bit "OMG, what have I done" is normal, give it a few days for the positive test to sink in.

that's made me feel better. Think part of the problem is that I can't take it seriously yet or believe it is really happening. I think in a week or so when AF hasn't turned up I will feel more certain about it. Sure I will come around. Yes, it's my first pregnancy - can't believe I just typed that!! So, 1 starbucks skinny cap and 1 diet coke per day are ok? What about using lotions etc on your skin? Also, when are you supposed to go and see the dr?

i conceived literally first time with my dd1. It was premeditated lol.

Dh was woo hooing around the room and I was in shock. I felt like everything was rushing towards me and felt like shouting oh hey hold on I'm not rteady for this.

It passes and after my scans I felt more connected to my baby. She is adorable and such a success we have two now.

Congrtatualions.

binklehasflipped · 01/08/2007 21:41

bio oil very good. Go see your doctor now for another test to confirm. I did my pregnancy test at work in the loo. Phone my dh in shock to tell him and by the end of the afternoon flowers had turned up on my desk. He was over the moon, I was just in shock, couldnt even think of myself as pregnant. different when the bump comes along, you start to feel more connected with the idea.

You'll be a great mum you know

yeh 1 coffee and coke a day ok. c doc soon as so he can refer you to midwife which you usually see her about 8 weeks. Doc will give u some advice about taking folic acid avoiding certain cheeses and cat litter and just general advice. Elemis do good oil 4 tummy but pricey. Tesco, sainsburys and boots also have a range of body lotions and oils espeacially 4 preg. some aromatherapy oils are dangerous in early preg so Id stick 2 ones meant 4 preg.
