Hi ladies!!

I’m new here :) my partner & I have made the very exciting decision to start ttc! I came off my pill about 2 weeks ago now and have been dtd as much as possible. Just wondered if any other ladies are in a similar position and want to buddy up?? It can be so overwhelming thinking about it all and I want to stay as calm as possible :)

Rosina,
I understand what you mean about mixed feelings. I'm the same!

I'm so fearful of birth, I have already had two antenatal appointments with midwives to try to secure my c-section (looks positive I'll be able to have one).

I also find myself worrying about global issues... like how we are in a climate emergency, and is it really fair to bring a child into this world when we only have 11 years to try to fix the environmental problems... etc. Confused

But at the same time, I've already mentally decorated the nursery Grin

To help get my head in a good place, I'm starting to do a pregnancy meditation every day. It might be nonsense, or it might be great.

As far as I'm aware, abortions don't affect your fertility (unless they go horribly wrong, which you'd know about!)

Fingers crossed you get your honeymoon baby! Thanks

rosina38 · 18/06/2019 09:27

Hi wannabemama0812

Thanks for your reply and best of luck to you!
I’ve also been thinking about an elected c-section

Totally with you on the global issues too, the world can be an awful place when you read the news.

But that’s why you need positive things like bringing a brand new person in to the world. Pregnancy meditation will definitely help with keeping positive about the journey ahead

:) :)

Bezalelle · 18/06/2019 10:07

Hi @Rosina38! Welcome.

@wannabemama0812 pregnancy meditation sounds interesting. How did you find out about it?

wannabemama0812 · 18/06/2019 21:32

Bezalelle,
I use the Headspace app for meditation anyway, and noticed it has a pregnancy course under the health section. Starting it tomorrow! I'm sure you could find similar on other apps or even on YouTube.
Took an OPK when they arrived today (mid-afternoon and definitely not 4 hours without a wee!)
It was negative, and I'm on CD15.
Clue app predicts my ovulation at CD17... so hopefully haven't missed it this month!

Lauralozzle · 18/06/2019 22:08

@rosina38 I totally understand where you’re coming from. Part of which made me delay/think I was not ready is my fear of childbirth - my mum haemorrhaged after she had me and had to have emergency surgery. She nearly died.

But I’m ready, at the same time. The whole thing is as terrifying as it is exciting.

I want a family, and want my own child, but I can feel uncomfortable around other people’s kids. This is more of an anxiety thing though, I’m very private in person, I don’t want people to know we’re trying as they’ll ask questions/judge my potential ability. I’d rather them think I’m not interested because that stops them probing/judging as they’ve all written me off as unmaternal! How wrong they are!

I finally got a peak on my opk today! Ovulation should be tomorrow! I’m tired of DTD though - I think we’ve had more sex in this past week and a half than we have the previous couple of months! Not sure I can manage 4 nights on the trot (DTD last night).

wannabemama0812 · 19/06/2019 09:12

It's good to read how others feel, because I have the same uncertainties. Yet we all so want that BFP!

I got another negative OPK this morning. And I'm trying to track cervical mucus (not easy - mine never looks quite like the example photographs!)

I am CD16, which my Clue app says is the day before ovulation on CD17 (cycle length varies by 5 days).

Is it worth DTD anyway as I'm in the FW window according to the app, despite the negative OPK?

I have to plan it carefully, as DH doesn't like to DTD every day (my fault - I am a very petite woman and can make him a little, ahem, tender!)

wannabemama0812 · 19/06/2019 09:17

@Lauralozzle

I know EXACTLY what you mean about other people's children. I feel a little judged, too. Especially when I'm having a nice time with my little nephew, and MIL swoops in. She doesn't mean anything by it, but I can't help but feel I'm doing something wrong, and giving away how I don't know what I'm doing! I'll often just avoid holding a baby, busying myself with something else, to avoid showing how I'm not quite sure...

Sorry to hear about your mum's labour. Most ladies don't have such horrible difficulties. I am also scared of a natural labour for different reasons, and I have seen a midwife twice now to get assurance that I can have a c section. I don't know if you would feel calmer about that, because of course that has risks, too! There's just no good way to get babies out, is there? Hmm

DoowopFrog · 19/06/2019 09:20

Hi all, just joining this thread! I am TTC number 3, have had fairly easy
and quick conceptions the previous two times (6 months and 1 month respectively) so fingers crossed for this time as well. This is our second cycle of trying. I use the cheapie OPKs you can buy on Amazon and find I have to test around 3x daily leading up to mid cycle in order not to miss a positive test.

Wannabemama, have you thought about trying some fertility friendly lubricant? Every other day during your fertile window is fine, it's meant to be best in fact. Let's face it most of us don't want to do it every day!

Bezalelle · 19/06/2019 09:47

Hello to the new ladies on here! Hope everyone is well.

For my first cycle of TTC, I haven't been tracking ovulation physically - just using the Flo app, and my own physical symptoms. After DTD on Sunday night I felt what I thought was "mittelschmerz", and felt really nauseous all day Monday and yesterday. However, Flo predicts ovulation today. DTD last night as well, so I suppose we're covered in any case!

If this cycle doesn't end in a BFP, I'll start using OPK sticks to be more sure of when I ovulate - ordered some off Amazon already, actually.

DP and I aren't living together permanently over the summer, so we'll need to schedule our visits to coincide with the fertile window.

wannabemama0812 · 19/06/2019 12:48

I just read online that even if you have sex on the day of ovulation (ie. if your timing is absolutely perfect), there is a 30% chance of pregnancy.

30%

Even if we do it all right!! It's a miracle how anybody has children Grin

rosina38 · 20/06/2019 22:13

I’m looking at the more positive odds of 85% of couples get pregnant within one year!

In other news, I took my last pill on sunday, I still haven’t started my withdrawal bleed which is annoying as it usually lasts a whole week and my wedding is a week tomorrow!!!

wannabemama0812 · 21/06/2019 08:15

Finally!
CD18 and I get my smiley face on the OPK.
If we have sex this evening, is that good enough?
We probably won't manage tomorrow as well, with my husband being on a long shift.

wannabemama0812 · 21/06/2019 08:18

@rosina38

I hadn't heard that statistic - much more positive! Smile

It's so difficult getting back into a rhythm once you're off the pill. I hope you don't get your period on your wedding (just for the cramps!), but you may not even come on by then. I had about five weeks of nothing when I came off the pill, and then settled straight into a regular(ish) cycle.

Congratulations on the wedding!
Are you all ready? I remember still gluing little pearls on the menu card two nights before Grin

rosina38 · 21/06/2019 08:34

@wannabemama0812

I have never used a OPK before so I will leave one of the other ladies to answer you.

Normally I would have a withdrawal bleed within 2 or 3 days of taking my last pill in the pack so I did expect to have that and then have a few months unsettled getting back in to a normal cycle. Bodies are unpredictable sometimes!

All is great thanks for the wedding, we are keeping it really informal, having a registry office ceremony next Friday and then a big party for friends and family on Saturday. Obviously I have a beautiful dress with a long train though!!!

Good luck for tonight Wink

Mrsccc · 21/06/2019 09:26

Hi @HoneyBee833

We are new to TTC too! Came off my pill 25th May and had withdrawal bleed 30th May to 3rd June. Dont know where i'm at in my cycle or if my cycle is even back to normal as it's the first month. Just trying to DTD at least every other day and hope for the best!

wannabemama0812 · 21/06/2019 21:26

Count me out this month.
Positive on the OPK this morning, but DH doesn't feel like DTD today, and he's away tomorrow.
So disappointed Sad

Skyla01 · 21/06/2019 22:01

@wannabemama0812 that's really bad luck. It's a shame your oh won't oblige... but I think it can be hard for the man, sometimes they feel a lot of pressure to perform.

rosina38 · 21/06/2019 23:12

@wannabemama0812 sorry to hear that. Must be frustrating for you. But try not to rush things.

At the moment we only seem to manage to DTD once a week, twice at a push with busy lives, tired from work etc. We have already said we are going to put a bit more effort in if we want to have a baby any time soon! I think every 2 to 3 days throughout the cycle is recommended plus sperm can live for a few days Smile

I managed to get pregnant on the pill 10 years ago! Now I actually want to, I’m sure it’s going to be much harder!

My withdrawal bleed started today so I’m looking forward to getting that out the way and get in to a regular cycle

wannabemama0812 · 22/06/2019 15:31

Thanks @Skyla01 and @rosina38 !

DH woke me up early before leaving for work to squeeze in a quick DTD Wink

The OPK instructions say the day after the positive OPK is fine as well, so hopefully we caught the window (although only once).

I have an event next weekend that is based around drinking (and it will be very suspicious if I don't!) I would only be 7/8 DPO, and so it probably wouldn't show up on a test yet even if I were pregnant... do I just drink in moderation? (It's a champagne tasting evening, so not drinking would be very odd, and my coworkers would wonder why!)

I had hoped to just do a test on the morning, so I'd know if I could drink or not. But then I realised I probably wouldn't get a positive so early anyway!

RoseRRob · 22/06/2019 19:45

@wannabemama0812 I think just drink! It wont make a difference this early on, enjoy yourself :)

Unfortunately I've been getting my usual cramps so I dont think this is my month. AF due tomorrow but not holding out much hope.

Jadey31 · 22/06/2019 21:12

Hi all!

I'm enjoying reading that everyone is roughly at the same stage!

DH and I have decided to start TTC, I have been ready for years however DH has been very cautious (I was very conscious that I didn't want to force him into it, so I waited for him to ask me!) we've been together for 10 years and married for 7.

I came off the pill on Monday and currently having my break through bleed. I have endometriosis so the doctors advised me to take my pill back to back to ease the pain however I have recently been having monthly breaks to ease my body in gently to monthly periods.

I'm taking Pregna-Plan vitamins, follow the Ovia app and as of next month I will be testing my ovulation. This is all so new and frustrating to only research on my internet and not talk to anyone in real life for advise.

Once question I need to ask ladies, what position is best for conceiving?!

Also, still learning the Mumsnet lingo! Please bare with 💋

RoseRRob · 24/06/2019 18:29

I've been having cramps all weekend and thought my period was just around the corner. Still no sign so took a test this afternoon and it was a BFP Shock I'm in shock! Husband and I went straight to the shop and got more, I've done another which was positive again and I'm going to do another in the morning. Shocked and so excited.
How's everyone else getting on?

wannabemama0812 · 24/06/2019 19:02

@roseRRob!

Huge congratulations! What lovely news. Thrilled for you :)

rosina38 · 24/06/2019 19:49

Congrats @RoseRRob!! Excellent news.

I am on day 4 of withdrawal bleed. I have had a reaction to a scented sanitary towel and I am just generally not enjoying being female at the moment....!

We go on honeymoon on 1 July for 2 weeks so I am secretly hoping I will ovulate during that time and we will have a honeymoon baby :) :)

Hope everyone else is well

HoneyBee833 · 24/06/2019 22:30

Congratulations @RoseRRob x
