Implantation Bleeding

Ok ladies - I know I'm clutching at straws here.. but humour me..

How heavy can implantation bleeding be? I had what was like a very light period for a day and a half but it has completely stopped now. Sorry if TMI - but filled about 2 pads. It included some red gloopy blood just like a normal period and wasn't just the pink or brown blood that most people talk about in reference to implantation bleeding..

I reckon I ovulated about 10 days prior to the start of the bleeding and therefore was suprised at AF starting so soon.. so I hoped it was implantation bleeding.. but it seemed too heavy and so I resigned myself to the fact that it was AF however now it has stopped completely..

I don't want to be a nut job and test again.. but I'm interested in hearing other peoples experience of implantation bleeding.

Also if I were to test - how long after implantation to the hcg levels get high enough?

Deep down I know it probably just a screwed up AF ( I have just come off the pill ) but any info would be gratefully received.

toffeepud - DPO is 'Days past ovulation'. You will soon be up to speed dont worry!

Implantation bleeding is the scanty or spotty vaginal discharge, which is pinkish or brownish and not red like a normal period.

Hi,
My menstruation was due 23rd april, i had an incomplete intercourse on 19th april with my husband... on 25th april i had normal bleeding just like day 1 of menstruation (usual red color).. with slight pain... but on day 2 i.e. 26th april there was no blood just few dark clots brown in color... with no pain... can anyone help me in clearing this confusion... is not normal menses?

Hi I realise that no one can giver answers but I had 2 blastocysts put back in last Monday after 2nd ivf and got knows how many iui's. We have what was originally a male fertility issue. I had massive cramps on friday- day 9 after ovulation. It then dulled to a low niggle that isn't really like period pain at all. I have been having to go to the loo in the night as well a's come down for a midnight feast every night since plus sore heavy boobs which I never get. Today I still have the dull ache but woke with ver bad runs- sorry tmi! There was some very light pink spotting when I wiped which then later developed very briefly into a bright red spot. Just like period blood. It's stopped since. However this is how my periods normally start. I get a warning and upset tummy. I know that the answer tomOrrow at the hosp is 99% going to be a bfn but people keep telling me it could all be a good sign. Anyone else had this and got a bfp?

hi im currently what is thought to be 5 weeks pregnant but im not sure if im actually that far gone, ive had some spotting over the last 5 days nothing heavy and no pains or cramps or clots, my hcg level is bing checked every 48 hours it went from 154 to 275 but i am still being checked, im worried about miscarriage as this seems to be what they are checking for has anyone else experienced this in the early days

Hi, I am v confused about implantation bleeding and exactly how much it can be... I am 12 days after ovulation and not sure if it's early period (never happened before) or implantation bleed. It's light in colour but defo red not brown as often suggested if implantation... So does seem to be start of AF... Did anyone have implantation bleeding that was v similar to period? I had none in my first pregnancy...

I'm still confused about implantation bleeding as it appears I had some but I didn't see any major difference between it and my normal period.

I wasn't sure of my dates but knew I'd had a period about 2-3 weeks into trying. This was in November and we decided to wait until after Christmas to start again. I got ill in the run-up to Christmas, felt really lethargic and achy so thought I had flu. Husband thought otherwise and persuaded me to take a pregnancy test. Found out on Christmas Eve that I was pregnant - via a ClearBlue digital test which put me at about roughly 5 weeks... So I booked my week scan and learned on the day that I was 15+3. Which meant I had fallen pregnant pretty much on Day 1, and the period had to have been implantation bleeding.

I asked a couple of times how accurate the dating scan was (I had heard from somebody that all pregnancies develop at the same rate only for the first 12 weeks) but was assured I was further along than I thought based on the head measurement.

Hello all! It turns out I must have had implantation bleeding. I had 4 days of light period last weekend in feb. But always light and negative clear blue 2 days before. Then had an urge to poa(expensive clear blue digital)s this am(cd9) and it says 2-3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!

The period was identical to my one in late jan early feb. V light but normal for me. Dark. Needed pads.

Quite bemused. Had set my sights on next lh surge! Hope it works out the same for some of you. Just hoping it sticks now.

I did a search and found this thread. I've had a really weird period (light, no pain, reddish brown.) We were so convinced that our trying had worked this month ( we used a predictor kit and I had early symptoms i.e. cramps, overheating etc.) we did a test two days before my period was due- BFN and the "bleeding" started that day (i.e. early) and has lasted four days. I wonder if I should try another test next week? Am I being delusional?

just wanted to add to the thread to say same thing has happened to me. Normally regular 31 day cycle. Ovulated on day 15 of cycle. 9 days later (day 24), I started getting some small amounts of brown-pink blood but only when using toilet paper. Very light and not flowing onto sanitary pad. I also had tender breasts and constipation. (sorry if too much info!).
Anyway this has lasted for 5 days now but period not actually started properly. Did a pregnancy test two days ago and it was negative. Now its day 28 but this morning, I passed a large dark red clot. Now feeling a bit crampy.
I guess I'm wondering if this is my period, but seems so weird to be so early and so different from normal period. Could it be a miscarriage? I'm really confused. :( anyone had anything similar? x

I had exactly the same a few months ago apart from the very very light bleeding came and went for a total of 30 days. I got a couple of very faint positives with clear blue at the beginning then negatives. I went to my GP after the clot and they said it may have been a pregnancy that didn't come to anything and leave it to nature. Trying not to over think it (yeah right I'm on mumsnet conception thread). They also advised me to keep doing tests every week or so until my cycle returned to normal as I wouldn't be able to tell when I had ovulated.
AF came very normally and healthily exactly 28 days after passing the clot.
Not sure that helps but just sharing really

I know someone who had implantation bleeding that lasted 10 days and was just like a normal period. It's not always pink, brown, spotting or like a very light period.

Someone else I know bled from day 1 through to 26 weeks.

hello all ur storys r all interesting to me but im still confused myself think i kinda need to hear it from someone else, but in june i had miscarriage .july i had my normal heavy 28 day cycle, same again august thn sept it came 3 wks n 3 days still normal heavy period oct came only 3 wks after tht n now its 11th nov i gt sum spotting cpl days ago nt enuff to wear a pad or tampon n it looked like watery pink colour today its a little redder but last like hr cz wen i checked again its gone bk to spottin very light , i have lil stomach cramp but had bad lower back ache took loads of diff types test n all neg am i havin sum kind of messed up period like wk late(goin off 28 day cycle or 2 wks late goin off 3 wk )or does this sound like implantation bleed im so confused i shud have come on latest 5th nov....will my doctor do my hcg levels if i request thm n wil they show yet , i did my ovulation calculation on line n although it said middle of oct ish i was tld tht my clear discharge i was having wk b4 my period was due to start was signs of me ovulating pls sumone help me here ??????

Okay, need some help and advice here.

I had sex around about the time I was ovulating (had sex on the 2nd June/this month). On about the 7th I started getting light cramping and some light headaches. On the 10th I had a small amount of bleeding that was brown in colour and it only happened once. By the 11th the cramping had gone away but I started feeling tired, more hungry, urinating more often and had a lot of white discharge. Also had spot breakouts all over my body. My period isn't supposed to be due till the 19th (next Wednesday) so I thought the small amount of blood was odd when it came. Today, 15th, I have started bleeding heavy and it started off as just a red colour but now has a brown colour mixed in. It's about the same as my period and I have this odd cramping like someone is stretching out my uterus or something and it's not as bad as the cramps I usually get during my period. Now the thing is, I have never had symptoms before my period in my whole life, it has never come early and I have never had bleeding before it either. So right now I'm not sure if it could be implantation bleeding, a miscarrige or an early period. I took a test on 10th and 12th but they both came up negative. I'm going to take another one on 21st after my period was due.

Sorry for the essay but I wanted to explain everything. What does anyone think? I'm trying to hold on to hope at the moment.

Ok, just an update. I know I only posted earlier but stuff has changed fast.

My bleeding now has lots of clots in it and is only red. It's gotten heavier than my usual period now to the point that I'm very frequently having to change a pad :( Is this a bad sign?

Bumping up this thread for selfish reason.

I am 13 dpo with Af due sat. Have had a rotten week with dizzy spells, tiredness, terrible gas (sorry tmi) & eating like a horse! Last night I started to bleed, which is not normal as I am very regular.

My initial hope was an impl-bleed. However the flow is very heavy, pretty much like a period only with browner blood (sorry again,tmi).

I know I prob have to be realistic. ..but anyone else had heavy flow pre af due date.

Ps. Was on coil, so not to do with regulating post pill.

Hi guys I need a lil help, I am on my second implant now and got it put in a month ago. I am having the worst constant bleeding eva since I had it put in, my bleeding can go from very light to extremely heavy in a heart beat ??am really worried as I didn't have this with my last implant that was a breeze with no bleeding what so eva! Please can someone help me out as I am unsure what's goin on n I dunno what to do

Am also having something very similar am 7 dpo yesterday had brown discharge and cramping last night we had sex and I had a sudden pain so we stoped I had bled ! And this morning had nothing just an hour ago bleeding again it's going from red to pink to brown and the. Red again I think it's more consistent with a period rather then spotting however I am not due on for another 9 days so if this is a period it would be an 18 day cycle which I've never had before I tested cheap Lloyd's one yesterday I could see something where the line should be but wasn't coloured it was a shadow tho really unsure if this could be implantation my second child is 6 I know I bleed but don't remember how much with him anyone had anything like this ??

Should also mention I've got a bit of a nagging pain right in the middle of my lady area but high up into my abs I don't feel achey like a period and I've got funny taste in my mouth and had a headache for two days can't get rid off more then likely chemical I'm gutted as when I saw brown yesterday I assumed implantation due to the time it was now the red blood has worried me
