Hello,
I though it would be nice to have a group for those TTC for a long time, ie over 6months!

There used to be a yam-fam thread but I can't see it any more?!

Everyone on the busses seems to be on cycle 2 😭😭😭

@Smileyface32 I went initially after 6 months as I'm over 25. They did the blood tests but then I actually turned out to be pregnant that cycle then mc at 8 weeks. I've been waiting a few cycles before returning to the GP as I thought it might just happen but I now have an appointment booked in mid May. I don't know if the bloods would have been affected by being pregnant so I'm not sure if we will have to get them repeated...

dragonmummy17 · 22/04/2019 19:56

35 not 25!!

EL8888 · 22/04/2019 20:10

@bunhead34 yeah partner had tests as well. NHS appeared to have messed the results and the interventions required up with that as well!

@RudyRoo yeah we got sick of waiting and weren’t convinced we would get any answers. We wouldn't get any NHS IVF anyway. Thanks, fingers crossed

Hi ladies - will join you on this one as well!
30yo, TTC for #1 for 7 months. First 3 months we took it easy, did not track anything and just had fun. We were pretty sure (and almost scared) it would happen right away as it seems to happen with many people. Cycle #4 - early MC at 7 weeks. Started using OPKs thereafter and did that for a month. Then switched to the advanced digital monitor and used that for 2 cycles. Cycles #7 - chemical pregnancy at 5.5 weeks. Now back on the OPKs as the monitor wouldnt work until I get AF back (probably at least another 2 weeks until then). Have had a fertility MOT done in between the early MC and the chemical - all looks normal and fine.
Wondering if we should keep on trying or go full out on additional tests at this point to find out what is wrong. Worried about another MC after the “ luck” we had so far..
Anyone in the same boat?

bunhead34 · 24/04/2019 07:38

Welcome @chocapic sorry for your loss, that's so tough. I'm not in the same boat, no sniff of a positive in 11 month, but I'm sure someone will be in the same boat ❤️

Okay so what does this mean - cd 10, just done my first opk of this cycle and it's a big fat smiley face. Not due to ov for 7days.
Also I used a new digital stick and I thought it just used the 1st one as a benchmark?!

RudyRoo · 24/04/2019 07:46

Hi @chocapic welcome! Sorry I can't really help too much with your situation as I have never been pregnant before but it does sound if you have had a fertility MOT and everything looks fine then I would probably just keep trying. Sorry for your loss x

RudyRoo · 24/04/2019 07:52

@bunhead34 is it a static smiley or a flashing smiley? I got the flashing ones for 5 days this month before it finally went static. You are maybe just ovulating early this month, might be to do with the Agnus Castus? I would get DTD now!
Yes I heard that too, but maybe not strictly true?

By the way 2 months ago when I was doing them I got a solid face on CD12, then it went to a circle, then flashing CD15 and then solid CD17. So who knows! Hmm

bunhead34 · 24/04/2019 08:22

@RudyRoo I don't use the advanced ones, so it's either static or nothing! Oh well, think I'll keep using them and see what happens!

OP posts:
RudyRoo · 24/04/2019 08:27

@bunhead34 have you done a PG test recently? I've heard that positive OPK's can be a sign of pregnancy.
If that's not the case, then just keep testing everyday to see what happens and DTD lots! Have you any ewcm? Keep us updated!

RudyRoo · 24/04/2019 08:29

I'm 6dpo now, had some cramps and twinges on one side yesterday, praying and hoping this is my month! 🤞🏼

bunhead34 · 24/04/2019 09:36

@RudyRoo I've not done a pig test in a while! I gave up on them 😂
I'd be very surprised to be honest, Af was very normal, although it did cross my mind too!
Prob just another thing to confuse and wind me up! Hmm

OP posts:
bunhead34 · 24/04/2019 09:36

Pg test,not a pig test!

RudyRoo · 24/04/2019 09:47

Pig test made me chuckle! Good luck x

Hello. Don't know if people still following this. Glad I've found this thread anyway. TTC #1. We never thought it would take so long. And I do realise it's not really that long. Just feel so disappointed. We started back in December. I had been off the copper coil since August. Long sorry (it departed of its own accord. Pretty horrid experience).

So fast forward to now. AF showed up again this month. Not sure what we are doing wrong. Dtd at the right time each month. I track most months with OPKs. Also dtd as much as we can outwith this time. But not even a sniff.

RudyRoo · 07/05/2019 19:17

@mrsawhite try not to get too disheartened. I know it's hard but it will happen. Remember doctors class anything up to a year as totally normal. I came off the pill in August so I'm roughly in the same timeline as you. Took ages for my body to get back to normal and thought it would never happen. Started getting paranoid so went to the docs for blood tests etc. Then it happened and I got my BFP last week. Keep trying and you will get there. x

EL8888 · 07/05/2019 19:27

@mrsawhite l can relate to how you are feeling. I started August 2018 and not a sniff of anything here either. I’m quite frustrated as lm sick of my job and we want to move house. Plus the limited alcohol intake, inability to plan etc 🙄

@RudyRoo congratulations!

mrsawhite · 07/05/2019 19:44

@RudyRoo so the drs did do some blood tests for you? I'm starting to wonder if we should. But don't know if they would entertain us.

RudyRoo · 07/05/2019 20:16

@mrsawhite yes after 8 months of trying I went to the GP and it was his suggestion to do the 21 cycle day tests. All came up fine and definitely put my mind at ease. It depends on your GP of course but I would give it a try if I was you!

mrsawhite · 07/05/2019 20:29

We are in Scotland. Don't know if that makes a difference. Can you explain the tests for me?

mrsawhite · 07/05/2019 20:31

@EL8888 we are the same. Have house on the market. Quite a big move imminent. I feel so silly now for putting it off last year. After coil came out I put it off for a couple of months. Now look 🤷‍♀️

EL8888 · 07/05/2019 20:49

@mrsawhite l know what you mean, l have some what ifs as well. Are you thinking big geographical house move? I’m thinking of giving it until September-ish and then look for a new job. Stuff the NHS maternity deal, mind you by that point l would be sceptical it would happen anyway. My 40th won’t be far away

mrsawhite · 07/05/2019 21:06

Pretty big move yes. It's within Scotland. But a big lifestyle change. Going rural to city.

bunhead34 · 07/05/2019 21:24

@EL8888 I am the same with my job, I gladly took voluntary redundancy over a year ago, but they asked me back - I only accepted because I wanted to ttc and need maternity pay!
Still there dealing with stress and should've been off on mat leave by now if all had gone to plan 😭

@RudyRoo congrats! You must be so pleased 🤗

@mrsawhite it's def worth a visit to the docs. I went a few months ago - I think after ttc 8 months, but I fibbed a little and added a couple of months on 🙈 was sent straight for bloods and scan. I'm not sure if it's different for Scotland - but my gp basically ignored the rules anyway (she told me i should have to wait until 2 years of TTC!) so I think it does just depend what gp you get.

(Ps, jealous you are in Scotland, I'm
From there, only still in London for DH job really 😭 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿).

OP posts:
RudyRoo · 07/05/2019 21:25

@mrsawhite I am in Scotland also. Just outside Glasgow. The day 21 test check for progesterone levels to make sure ovulation is happening, as well as that my GP said he checked my thyroid and other hormones levels (he didn't go into details but just left it as he knew what he was doing!) I know there are some other tests you can do Day 1-5 of your cycle but I think the GP will normally start with the CD21 tests. When I went back for results were all normal and GP suggested doing DH sperm analysis. We were just about the get the ball rolling with that when we got BFP. I am 33 almost 34 so I don't know if that affecting him being pretty proactive about it. I would definitely suggest getting yourself an appt and discussing these with your GP. Good luck.

RudyRoo · 07/05/2019 21:26

Thank you @bunhead34 still pinching myself! x
