TTC while breastfeeding

I wonder if anyone else is TTC,or soon to be TTC,but still hasn't had their periods return?

Baby is almost 10 months and we are hoping to TTC in January but still no sign of AF. We haven't really used contraception since he was born (apart from 3 weeks on the pill around month 3) but no sign of fertility returning.

Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar position.

Just started ttc. DD1 is 2y4mo. She needs to have an operation to help her breathe, and I wanted to keep breastfeeding until afterwards so she can have it for nutrition/comfort when she is in pain after her operation. We didn’t want to start ttc until we knew she’d be ok as I wanted to be able to focus on her. Her operation is next week, and AF has just started, so on to TTC!

My cycles didn’t restart until DD was 19 months, probably as DD has always been keen on bf and doesn’t sleep through. Pps that asked about phantom symptoms - I had PMT-like symptoms on and off for about 6 weeks before first cycle, which I reckon was my body gearing up for it. I’ve been like clockwork ever since.

Anyone else put thought into pre-conception vits? I take the pregnancare supplements for bf mums, which has 400 mcg of folic acid, but is this enough for bf and Ttc at the same time?

Has anyone tried eating more? I had a fleeting chat with someone who said that worked for her but no time to ask more! I'm 10 months pp, bf, and would be very thin/still losing weight if I wasn't making specific effort to eat up. The hope is my body will believe it has enough fuel to make both milk and eggs if anyone can back this up/tell me not to bother, I'm interested.

I tried that (before DDs health problems manifested we were hoping for a small gap), didn’t make any difference for me I’m afraid!

Kellymom website has lots of information, and apparently 18months is pretty typical for return of AF when breastfeeding. There is some stuff there about feeding patterns, how long a gap to aim for between feeds to increase fertility etc.

@crazychemist I got good news with a BFP yesterday! 🤗 tbh I'm still half in shock but also really nervous something is going to go wrong. I never felt like this with DD 🙈 never thought I'd ever be saying I want my sickness to start to make me feel pregnant 😂 any good news with anyone else?

I think worrying more the second time is normal, you feel like there’s more at stake now you can see your first child in front of you all the time.
I’m sure sickness will turn up and you’ll regret wishing that . When I was expecting DD I was so happy the first time I was sick and DH thought I was bonkers. I was less happy about it when I was still being sick 30 weeks later.....

I still have no sign of AF. Although I also decided against TTC a third.

I’ve just had my period return a week before lo’s 2nd birthday! She feeds only at night now, but frequently. I also took Maca for a few weeks which might have helped, mainly b/c I felt I had PMT for about the last year...

Any updates here? I'm now coming round to the idea of TTC again. Still haven't been using contraception anyway. No sign of period still...
