Why do you have to dismiss home pregnancy test results after 10 mins?

I very very much want to be preg with no2. I have spent a fortune on pregnancy tests and have tested lots, far too early in my cycle and get disappointed with a BFN every time. Did a test at 7.30 this morning. Negative as usual (AF due tomorrow). have just looked at it again and there is the faintest of lines in the pregnant window, (to be fair, it is SO faint I may be imagining it ). It is hours since I did the test, so I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but why is that?

I THINK IT IS BECAUSE THE RESULT FADES.

what you're seeing is most probably an evaporation line. There is always a practically invisble line hidden in the yes/no window so that the dye has something to stcik to if the result is positive. The line still gets wet through the wee going over it and when it has dried for some time it can leave a vsible evaporation line.

One way to tell is if there is no colour consistent with the test ie blue or pink and the line just looks grayish then it's just an evaporation line. Sorry and good luck with next month!!!!

Thanks all. If AF doesn't arrive tomorrow, I might just have to try another test (if I don't manage to stop myself getting another one to try later!!) I MUST get another load of cheap non fancy tests, or I'll be totally skint as well as not pregnant!
