Oh. My. God. I have just experienced a teeny teeny bleed - almost nothing - on the day I expected my period to start. Also some v mild stomach cramps and sore breasts - all normal symptoms of AF, or so I thought. As nothing further happened and my period usually lasts for 4 or 5 days and is quite heavy, I half-heartedly tested tonight 'just to confirm I'm not pg'. The big fat blue cross has knocked me for six!! This would be our first and I desperately want this to be real, but I don't want to get overexcited as I have had no other signs of pregnancy (although 2 weeks in I'm not sure what to expect really) and am worried that the whole thing could be over before it has really started. Has anyone else experienced the same kind of period-like symptoms only to find they are well and truly pregnant??

early signs of pregnancy:

period type pains in stomach

sore boobs

erm.... that's it for now

wait a few weeks then you'll start to feel sick

CONGRATULATIONS

If you have had a pos test you are pregnant.

Congratulations!!!!!!

Chooster · 09/05/2007 21:40

Sounds like congratulations chiefcook!

chiefcookandbottlewasher · 09/05/2007 21:45

ha ha squonk I suppose I just don't want to let myself get overexcited because I've wanted this for bloody ages. Am currently alternating between posting and pacing the house going 'oh my god oh my god' over and over again! Thanks for the congrats all.

Congrats!! Are you excited or still in shock? I can remember walking round with my mouth open like a fish for about two hours after I saw that blue line! It's the strangest feeling isn't it? I had to do three tests before I believed them (two the same day, one weeks later in secret. Yes, I was that skeptical! lol)

fryalot · 09/05/2007 21:50

well done

will keep my eye out on the birth stories threads in about nine months.

LadyTophamHatt · 09/05/2007 21:50

chiefcook, almost a year ago today I was doing that "Oh my god" thing while pacing the house.

I honestly don't think I'll ever get over the shock of seeing that line in that little box.

That little line is now the worlds cutest 16 week old( see my profile for proof of this claim).

Congratualtions

LTH you really do have a little cutie there. Both me and DP are blessed with what you might call a 'strong profile' so i reckon any child of ours is destined to be on the large-nosed side, poor thing!

Bananabump am doing the fish thing as i type. Think it will take a little longer and a few more tests before i start to believe...!

Mega congrats!! Oooh I love 'I'm pg threads'

If it makes you feel any better, I had bad cramps in those first few weeks - I even wore a pad as felt like I was going to come on any minute! Any time I felt a dribble of anything, I went white and was knicker checking like mad! However, we are now approaching DS's first b'day

Wait until the cramps go and the sickness starts - but that's a whole other thread!!

lyrabelacqua · 09/05/2007 22:21

My first signs of pg both times were feeling like af was about to start then nothing happening.
so it's really nothing to worry about. In fact, it's how I knew i was pg the second time before i did the test. The af that feels like its coming but doesn't materialise is a sure sign.
Congratulations

bananabump · 09/05/2007 22:25

I had no sickness at all though, so don't take it as read that you will definitely have ms. You might be one of us lucky ones who don't! Lots to think about yet anyway...have your told your hubby/partner yet? I told mine in starbucks of all places. Blurted it out over a gingerbread latte!

His first words were "Oh, so my balls do work then"

chiefcookandbottlewasher · 09/05/2007 22:27

yes i suppose i've got the pleasure of all that to look forward to!

Thanks all, you've put my mind at rest a bit and relaxed me, at least for now!I haven't posted much before, but thanks for making me feel better guys.

Bananabump my husband is working away for a couple of weeks so i have to keep this all to myself in RL til then. Not sure i want to give him the satisfaction immediately as he's been going round telling all his mates he's got supersperm and that getting pg shouldn't be an issue! Think this may just confirm his belief that he is in fact a god-like creature rather than a mere mortal!!

chief - I am in exactly the same boat. Congratulations!!! I had cranps last week and small bleed but no AF friday. Tested and got faint positive on saturday and tested again yesterday and got a strong postive.

bananabump · 10/05/2007 11:11

Congrats to you too, PE! You two will have to organise a "Due in jan/feb 2008" thread!
