How easy is it to conceive after having a baby? How long should you leave it before trying for a second? And is it dangerous to fall pregnant soon after giving birth?

I was told by gp that it was medically fine to conceive as soon as I wanted. Believe they recommend 1 year after a c section though.

Generally the first 6-12 weeks after having a baby you are super fertile.
However if you've had a c-section or any kind of birth trauma it's definitely worth allowing your body time to recover first.
They say recovery can be 6 months - 1 year.
However many people go on to have happy healthy pregnancies with very small gaps between children.

I have a 16mth gap between my children and when I went in to have dd I was effectively told off for getting pregnant too quickly. I appreciate that having c-sections close together has some risk but not much I could do about it then! I had no pregnancy related issues and I don't think my labour problems were related to the short gap.

Where do you get that information from? Confused My periods didn't come back for 9 months which is pretty common.
