Agnus Castus for TTC

I’d read some articles online saying that taking Agnus Castus is great if you are TTC, as it regulates hormones, increases progesterone and improves fertility. I bought some today, and have just read on the back of the box “do not use if you are trying to conceive”! So now I am totally confused.

Has anyone else used this? Is it really bad for TTC?

@doublechocolatetiffin - were your periods irregular before you took it, or normal?

Try and find a qualified herbalist to talk to rather than Holland and Barrett.

I went to The Herbarium in Shrewsbury (think they do phone consultations). Facebook page is:
m.facebook.com/shrewsburyherbarium/?locale2=en_GB

My luteal phase was really short so herbalist recommended Shatavari which is 'milder' than Agnes castus and less potential for problems. From memory I took it from first day of period through to expected period (herbalist told me when/how to take it).

Fell pregnant twice using this. Both times I had been having short luteal phases every month, then started taking shatavari, luteal phase extended and got pregnant the same month I started taking it. Two separate occasions. Stopped taking it as soon as got positive pregnancy test.

Also took Guafenesin (expectorant cough medicine as increases EWCM - read 'Taking Control of your Fertility' by Toni Weschler as she explains the science behind it) and made big diff in EWCM. Really useful book at understanding your cycle, was recommended to me here on MN and I would def recommend to others.

Will follow the same when ttc no 3. No 2 only four months old so no rush yet! 😂

Thanks @Doublechocolatetiffin for that - similarly to you I had a chemical preg which was the first hint that hormones weren't quite right. I'm glad yours has been resolved, it's always good to hear a positive story.

@ArronPurr they were regularish, with cycles at 30-32 days long and always 7 days of period, but that’s same as always for me.

It was only the month I took AC & EPO that my period was much lighter and lasted only a few days. I ovulated at a similar time though so maybe it just meant I had a thicker lining?

thisisouryrfx18 · 22/02/2018 18:22

Interesting about the AC and the EPO i hear soo much conflicting info about them both suppose everybodys body reacts in a different way

AMB13 · 18/01/2021 19:57

My cycle is 28 days but I have spotting for the most of my cycle minus 4 days after my period. Would like to try AC to see if it would help with spotting? When should I start taking it and up until what point?
