Should I be worried if my very faint line isn't getting any darker?

Tested positive with a v faint line on CD 26 (average 28 day cycle, so keen and early then!). Have tested each day since, including today, CD31, but the line is still barely there. Temp is still high, but would have thought that the line should be getting darker.

I know a "line is a line" but had hoped that I would see some progress as I had thought that as hcg increased, the line would darken Am worried this is a chemical pregnancy.

Can anyone advise or do I just need to hang on for a few days? It's still fairly early, I know....

Beany, when I was pg with ds I kept doing tests and they were all faint.

He was most certainly there

Congratulations!

Are they cheapy ebay tests, cos I could barely see the line on them, then supermarkets own was very bright line.

Jossiejump · 24/04/2007 10:26

I think it depends-when I had my chemical pg the line was faint and didn't get darker, but it could just be that where the tests are so sensitive they pick up hormones earlier, so a little more time is needed, esp if implantation happenned a little later than you thought

beansprout · 24/04/2007 10:30

Thank you for your replies. I had a strong line early on with ds, hence my concern, but of course, there is no reason that this should be the same!

Beansprout - everything crossed for you. Sounds hopeful though.

Keep us posted

Beansprout - Fingers crossed for you chick!

Honey, my first line with DD2 was alarmingly faint - on around the day my period was due - if that helps.

xxxx

fingers cropssed for you, it probably is still too early. Looks like you're pregnant!

cedar12 · 24/04/2007 17:46

Go and see your gp and get them to do blood test I am sure it will make you feel better. Good luck and congratulations.

beansprout · 24/04/2007 20:25

Thanks everyone. I'm just not sure if I should be concerned that the line is not getting any darker. I would have thought that increasing hcg levels would give a darker line.

Am I mad? I've convinced myself that weak line equates to "weak" pregnancy (and yes, I made that bit of pseudo science up!!) Maybe I'm just scared and this is a good way of distracting myself... sigh.

Don't know if this helps, my nursie friend reckons that a weak line is often a result of more dilute urine, - like if you've drunk a lot of water etc your wee is less concentrated in chemicals etc. Allegedly.

Hi Beansprout

Just had a thought - did you use the same test with ds as you are using now?

As I'm sure I mentioned to you before I used Boots/Tesco's own at first with both my pgs and they were pretty rubbish. Took over a week to get + with ds1 but as soon as I used one of the clear blue type tests it came up as bold as anything.

Still have everything crossed for you.

cazzybabs · 25/04/2007 07:15

beansprout - congratulations....keeping fingers crossed!

piglit · 25/04/2007 07:23

And perhaps the brand you are using doesn't really get that dark anyway....?

[hopeful]

Any news or dark lines we should know about???

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 13:12

i was wondering that too ready!

beansprout · 26/04/2007 13:38

You lovely people.

After 6 (count 'em) days of faint lines I have finally declared myself up the stick! I still want that dark line but if this is not meant to be, no amount of testing is going to save me so I just need to relax and take things as they come.

Am touched that you asked though. Hope you are both well.
