Does anybody know about citalopram and TTC and pregnancy?

I am on 30mg of citalopram and considering TTC but I don't want to come off the meds.

Does anyone else take them?

I was prescribed sertraline because of ttc pressures. They aren't considered safe in early pregnancy but the risks posed to the mother should always outweigh the unknown risks to the embryo and eventual foetus.

The reason ADs mostly are not considered safe is because they don't do studies on this issue.

It's a risk assessment issue...

I was on 10mg when I got pregnant with DD, not planned. I was advised that as I was on such a low dose I should come off them so I did. It was a tough couple of weeks. She is a thriving one year old now

I know several people, including myself, who have conceived whilst on Citalopram (and continued to take it throughout pregnancy). No problems at all.

I'm on 20mg of citalopram and I believe it is considered safe to stay on it whilst TTC and onwards as it is a low dosage. I don't know what else I would do otherwise as I've come off it twice and ended up back on it both times because I became more and more depressed without it
