Explain how I work it out... in laymen's terms please. Oh and Seaside no confusing 'new moon' with 'full moon' today

Ha ha!! I know!! Oh, to be young again

You're just a spring chick aren't you?

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 29/03/2007 17:07

Pah! I wish! I am 28 now I wish I had started ttc earlier... kept putting it off, had it in my head that the right time would be to start ttc at 27, baby at 28, start ttc for baby number 2 at 29... Oh how foolish and naive!! We should have started when we got married, but we wanted to make sure we had time as a couple first - tut Anyway, rant over

i am feeling strangely positive now, since the last few weeks.

im sure we will 'see' each other soon!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 30/03/2007 13:46

Glad you are feeling positive Scorpio - Fingers crossed for you!!

Oh.. Moon watchers - told DH about themoon phase theory - and he rolled his eyes

Ok, so I was born on 29/12/73 therefore 7 days before the new moon so during the waning moon, the cycle I got my BFP, I OV on 17/01/07 therefore during the waxing moon, not good. But, if I OVd on 28/03/07 that would also be during a waning moon so good, is that right?

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 31/03/2007 20:35

I think you are right MrsMc - From what I understand, as well as the normal ovulation phase... you should have sex on your moon phase day, so 7 days before the new moon for you, you should be getting down to it and that you could get pregnant at that stage too.
It's my moon phase today, 2 days before the full moon... but also 12 dpo, so I wonder how likely a conception would be today!! But I'm never one to shy away from a challenge

OP posts:
MrsMcEasterBunny · 31/03/2007 21:07

Damn I think 7 days before the new moon was 24/3, had a break that day

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 01/04/2007 11:09

I shied away from the challenge, I must confess.

I am hoping MrsMc that this moon phase thing means that an egg is released on that day... so the normal sperm/egg rules would still apply!? So if you have sex around that time - then the sperm could still meet the egg!?

As you can see, I clearly don't understand this too well... and Seaside has friends visiting this weekend, so is unlikely to be on MN to put us right

I like your thinking Ready!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 15:40

When is the next full moon???

OP posts:
MrsMcEasterBunny · 03/04/2007 15:53

Looks like 30th April to me.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 16:14

I've just sat and worked out, basing it on 28 day cycles each month (we all know that isn't going to happen ) my moon phase and ovulation should match January and February 2008!!! Seriously girls, I can't wait that long!!!

OP posts:
seaside72 · 03/04/2007 17:28

don't worry ready - I worked it out too and I think its the same for me unless we manage to completly alter ov time?!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 17:39

Bloody moon!!!!

OP posts:
seaside72 · 03/04/2007 17:42

lets just forget I ever mentioned it !!! we must take it upon ourselves to disprove the theory

greedyforbabies · 03/04/2007 17:49

surely the eclipse 4 weeks ago alters EVERYTHING and you are all fertile ALL the time!!!!!

thats what I read anyway!

greedyforbabies · 03/04/2007 17:49

sorry................i lurk everywhere!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 17:51

Seaside - Deal!!

Greedy - Howdee lurker!! How you doing?

OP posts:
greedyforbabies · 03/04/2007 17:56

i'm ok thanks. how are you feeling today after your dissapointment of yesterday. i have to say you seem quite perky!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 18:01

I am disappointed. More than I thought I would be. I knew I wasn't pregnant and thought I had made peace with it. But last night I felt like shit tbh, couldn't sleep and I sobbed my little heart out. I just can't believe I'm on cycle 8. I know that people take longer and go on to have lots etc... and I still have hope - but it is starting to dwindle that's for sure.

Sorry... but you did ask.

OP posts:
greedyforbabies · 03/04/2007 18:53

ready - i know exactly how you feel. so cycle 8 means about 8 months for you doesn't it. i started ttc this one last april and now that i am pg i have very quickly forgotten how long it took. i was only thinking to myself the other day that its strange how our minds work cos when i was ttc it was the ONLY thing i could think about all the time and then as soon as you get pg your brain turns to mush and you can't think about anything for long!!!!!
you too will have a mushy brain VERY soon!
xxxxx

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 03/04/2007 19:07

Greedy - Technically, it's been 7 months of trying (and not succeeding!) and this is the start of our 8th month.
I know what you are saying, when it happens I will forget all of this. I am just starting to worry that I am not going to be able to have them, and it's a scary prospect.

OP posts:
MrsMcEasterBunny · 04/04/2007 11:11

Don?t talk to me about that damn eclipse, I blame my loss on the moon ! Wasn?t there a song about blaming things on the moon? Norah Jones? It?s going to be my new moto ?so I?ll blame it on the moon? why can?t we be fertile whenever the sun shines? live in Scotland ? scrap that, whenever it rains?

Ready ? big hugs, sorry you were so sad last night but what Greedy says is so true and I felt exactly the same, as soon as you get that BFP the months of trying fade away and you forget all about them (and as she says, everything else too!) I?m holding onto that thought to get me through my next wait, however long that is. We just have to know for sure in our hearts and minds (remember that brain and hormones link!) that we will get pregnant and that it will be soon! We have a pact remember, we graduate together next time!! Ready to leave this cycle?

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 04/04/2007 11:44

"Don't blame it on the moonlight - blame it on the boogie" - Don't think that's quite the song you had in mind... If you want to blame the moon - then you go right ahead! Bloody moon!

Yes, I am Ready to go this cycle - packed and Ready!

It rains a LOT up North I have found out over the last 2 years - so Rain Fertility would be a good thing for me!!
