Help needed re fertility clinic questionnaire - sorry if TMI follows

Finally after waiting for weeks I've got the paperwork through (hurrah) - now I just have to fill it in....There are just a couple of things I am embarrassed to say I dont know what they mean and can only ask fellow mumsnetters.
HAve to fill in a monthly cycle thing like I do at the moment on fertility friend but is all more detailed....Like with your period what do they mean by show and what do they mean by flooding (So far I've only ever marked down light, medium heavy) Sorry as I say TMI....
The other things I'm not sure about is that they say how many years unprotected sex with partners and otherwise. Now DH is the only person...but before we started TTC we would just use contraception when I was worried about fertile period and not bother at other times. Do I count that as unprotected? Would it help or hinder my case?
It also asks if you've ever had an abnormal smear. I've had ones that I've had to have repeated because they messed up in some way but not had to have any treatment. So do I just put no....
Also they ask about transmissible/hereditary disorders? DH has Type 1 diabetes...which may or may not have some hereditary link....evidence I dont think is clear

FINALLY!!! Sorry to ask so much. After waiting do long I don't want to mess it up. Work want to send me abroad in the next six weeks or so. - which is very inconvenient.....and to places where there may be malaria and dengue fever. If I got vaccinated before TTC this month would that still be safe?
Sorry for all these questions....

Flooding is usually associated with having fibroids - this is why they're asking about whether there is flooding or not. Flooding is very heavy blood loss (e.g having to change pads every two hours or so) during menstruation.

With the smear explain like you've explained on here i.e that you've had one but had it repeated due to it not being taken properly (that's quite common as well).

BTW if you get very painful periods do mention that as well.

Certainly mention DH's type 1 diabetes.

A show I would think is what happens at the start of the period.

If you are still not sure about this I would phone them and discuss what you have written down before you send the questionnaire back. After all you and your man will need to be able to work fully with these people as a team.

thanks for all those suggestions....sorry i know it sounds really obvious but i just don't want to get the answers 'wrong' if you know what i mean....

I would explain about the unprotected sex in the way you have done here, too.

I would add an extra sheet to make sure you have room to include the detail. I know you wnt to get everything "right" but try to remember that ther really is no such thing here. they need to know whats going on for you and you partner in order to assess next steps. My view is that the more information they have the better - they will know how to sift between the relevant and irrelevant issues.

Good luck!

TMI alert!!
BTW Flooding is really heavy blood loss. sorry if TMI but have had it and its even worse than havign to change every couple of hours. More like every hour plus sometimes having to use tampons and pads at the same time to cope withthe sudden gushes of blood. v v messey.
