having been on the conception threads for longer than I remember now, I've seen, and posted, so many posts saying things along the lines of "I'm cd 20* and boobs are tender/am feeling nausious and we did it at the right time, so am sure I'm pg" only for af to arrive right on time and for the poster to live in hope of the next day 20 or so when they can start the simptom spotting all over again.

And yet I've seen an awful lot of posts saying "well I'm sure I'm not pg this month, have no simptoms" only for the poster to announce their pregnancy days later.

So I have a theory that one actually generally doesn't get pg simptoms prior to the duedate of af, and that no simptoms is actually a more positive sign than simptoms iyswim.

anyone wish to agree with me?

Me.........nothing with my ds......total shock when I got my bfp and still don't know why I even bothered doing a test after nearly 60 months of bfns!

Debbsyandson · 04/03/2007 21:22

hi wanna hows things hun?

fruitful · 04/03/2007 21:49

Yep, no symptoms here.

I wasn't sure my memory was right so I just searched for old threads. From when I was 5 weeks pg with ds -

"I have no symptoms and I feel great (better than normal in fact - no period, no pmt, marvellous!)".

So there you go.

Actually, when I was pg with dd, I didn't even get the giveaway symptom of missing a period - I bled, as normal.

That's really not helpful though, is it?

I agree with the no symptoms too - only when I knew I was pg I remembered feeling travel sick on the train a few days before af was due to arrive, but thought nothing of it as I never suffer from travel sickness. Also felt unbelievably tired like I've never felt before, but again this only clicked once I knew I was pg.

I had nothing infact I half expected the scan to show nothing lol
The only reason I tested was because I had been on a vlcd diet and was doing well and all of a sudden I couldnt stop eating (my body was telling me I needed more food lol) and when I thought about it I was 2 days late but even then I didnt really believe I could be so I wasnt totally shocked to get my BFP

I didn't know until I was over 2 months pregnant and even then I thought I was going down with 'flu because I felt so rotton. I had no symptoms at all. DH had said I was getting a bit of a fat tummy so I was madly doing sit ups to try and flatten it and then feeling sick. To be honest DH realised I was pregnant before I did, as did a friend a work - how unobservant can you get

NotanOtter · 07/03/2007 11:22

yes wannabe - i totally agree with you

I have had 6 pregnancies of varying degrees of symptoms ( one m/c)

I think its silly when people report symptoms on cd 24 or whatever

6 weeks ish - they kick in - unless its twins i guess

duchesse · 07/03/2007 17:10

With every one of my 4 pregnancies I knew virtually straight away, and felt utterly ropey by the day my period was due. I would love to "miss" the first two months of pregnancy like my sisters do. Not for me though apparently...

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 19:00

Hi wannabe. I didn't get any symptoms that were recogniseable to me until about 5/6 weeks (ie nausea, exhaustion etc) but I was really constipated around the time af was due, which is v.unusual for me! I did know I was pregnant though cos I had really strong implantation pains 4 days after ovulation. I think you're right, if you really are pregnant, I don't think you'll feel it particularly during the week after ov.

colditz · 07/03/2007 19:11

I never got pregnancy symptoms until 6 weeks. Totally normal. they are so like PMT though - very easy to confuse the two.

colditz · 07/03/2007 19:12

My first symptom with ds2 was waking up with a nose bleed and a craving for Starburst.

Flossam · 07/03/2007 19:15

WannaBe you are completely right. I had no idea both times I have recently been pregnant (1 M/c). I hadn't been TTC for long but it felt like forever and I was getting rather worked up about it. Found the month I stepped back and stopped stressing was the month I fell pg. Only downside is that DP and I can't actually remember having sex at all! so he felt a little short changed. I hope you aren't on the TTC board for too much longer.

fleacircus · 10/03/2007 07:57

To be fair, I never get period pains, but I wouldn't suggest that other women are imagining theirs. All pregnancies are different, people are more or less susceptible to different symptoms. 50% of fertilised eggs don't implant successfully, so it's perfectly possible for somebody to 'conceive', feel early symptoms, but get their period as usual when it's due.
