after you stop breastfeeding?

I've looked all over the net and can't seem to find a conclusive answer. I breastfed DS totally until approx 6wks ago, then just at night until 3 wks ago. One answer i found on the net was upto a year! PLEASE, please tell me that's not right

I'm afraid there is no definite answer. I stopped BF DS at 10 months, and didnt have AF for at least another 6 mths. However, after stopping with DD at 11 mths, I had AF the next month!
Sorry I cant give you a better answer!

i cut down to 2 breastfeeds a day at 8 months, mine have now come back.

I got my AF back whilst I was breastfeeding both my dses. First time they came back at 8 weeks, the second at 10 weeks.

8 months with all four of mine. My friend breastfed exclusively and was pg agin when first was just 4 months.

well 6mths is ALOT better than a year

introduced solids at 5/6 months & mine was 9 mths both times (carried on with couple of feeds till 2 or 3 years...)

It varies for everyone, my friend did not get her af for 18 months after stopping feeding with two of her children, whereas I got mine back 3 months after first pg while still breastfeeding, and after 4 weeks with the second while exclusively breastfeeding....! That was a shock for sure.

So it is not possible to say a definite time, many people say it takes "about a year" but it can be much sooner or later. Sorry this is not a very helpful answer for you.

I posted a thread on this very thing a few weeks ago - mine came back bout 3-4weeks after completely stopping bfeeding.

I don't think anyone really knows - I found it really frustrating that no one could give me answer and we're desperate to have no2, seems like everyone who gets af during bf/straight after pg doesn't want to have children at mo... grrr

I was going to give it 6 mo then go to GP
