BFP, then BFNs, period 15 days overdue. Chemical pregnancy?

I had a BFP on 20 Dec, 4 days before AF was due. Since then every test I've taken (8!) has been negative (except one BFP yesterday but it looked faulty). It has now been 2 weeks since the first BFN and still no AF or heavy bleed. I had light spotting at the time of the BFP but nothing much at all. Does everyone who has a chemical pregnancy have a heavy bleed? I have seen my doctor but he was fairly useless - just said to come back for a scan if AF doesn't come by end of month. I also have symptoms - bloating, constipation, indigestion, sensitive nipples, dizziness, and the last 3 days quite severe lower back pain. If anyone has been through anything similar, some advice would be much appreciated. Feeling a bit lost.

I had a very early miscarriage a few months ago and I didn't have a heavy bleed - it was pretty much like a normal period, and like you I had had a BFP followed then by a BFN. I can't really help where the symptoms are concerned but if they don't go, I would try and see a different doctor - yours does not sound very sympathetic. I was told after my BFN that my GP could do me a form for a blood test that would definitely confirm whether I was still pregnant - could you ask for this? It ought to be much easier than a scan to arrange.

Thank you Fridgedooropen. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I had hoped they would test but doc said not. I haven't had any bleeding at all except 5 days of light spotting. Nothing even close to a normal period. Period symptoms have been going on for 4 days now - I was so sure it would come 2 nights ago, had all my AF paraphernalia ready and munching expectantly through lots of chocolate... and still no AF! Can't believe it. Did your cycles get back to normal quickly after your cp?

You're displaying a couple of symptoms of an ectopic. It's unlikely but a mix of bfn and bfp, severe pain, unusual bleeding and feeling ill are all signs.

I think you should push for a scan asap. Some places accept a self referral to the epu.

If in the meantime you feel more unwell or have odd bleeding or pain, please seek help immediately.
