Shettles method for a girl... any success stories?

Hi all,

DH and I want to try for DC #2 and would love to have a girl. I want to add that we really don't mind a boy and just think it would be nice to have a girl as we already have a 3 yo DS. I don't mean to offend anyone who is struggling to conceive :)

I am about to start ovulating tomorrow/day after and DH I were going to DTD then..... but then I came across the shettles method today and now I am thinking I should delay trying to get pregnant for another cycle as it's a bit to late for us to try the shettles method.... if I understand correctly, we need to DTD a couple of days before I ovulate.

So are there any success stories with the shettles method? Is it worth waiting for another month? Also, any other tips for a girl ?

I don’t remember exactly. A month or two at most. I followed the shettles method 100%.

I had sex everyday including ovulation day but I am scared of having a girl. Will I still have a boy even if I didn't abstain till ovulation day?

Hey Gabby, it's probably 50-50 at this point. Though on average girls are slightly more likely to be conceived than boys (I think it's 51-49 in favour of girls).

But most of the methods out there are not that reliable and when they "work" it's more a matter of the broken clock being right twice a day than the method actually working.

So I think at this point you just need to accept that it could be either and wait till you can find out.

Forgot to add - might be worth it exploring the reasons why you'd rather have a boy than a girl ? I also had a preference for a boy but thinking hard about why really helped me be at peace with whatever outcome. That and looking for cool girl names !
