Implications of TTC whilst on short term contract

Hi, so DH and I are thinking to TTC next year (no children currently and haven't tried before) but I'm currently on a one-year fixed contract.

Obviously, there's no guarantee it'll work straight away but if I were to be pregnant before the end of my contract, are there any implications to only having worked at the company for a short period of time? I would have left before it got to the point of maternity leave but what if I suffered badly from morning sickness?

Sorry, I don't know anything about this and none of my friends have had children! I am trying to weigh up not wanting to wait too much longer (32 next year) but also not wanting to miss any implications. And I am a bit worried about taking the piss if I get pregnant while on a one year placement (which is maternity cover!)

You have the right not to be discriminated against during your pregnancy, regardless of the contract length, so don't worry about potentially needing to take time off.

You might even still qualify for maternity pay if you're still employed 15 weeks before your due date, even if your contract terminates soon after.

Yes, exactly what mummy said. You have the same protection against discrimination on the basis of being pregnant as you would for discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, disability, religion etc. so the length of your contract shouldn't factor at all if you end up being off ill for pregnancy-related issues.
