Period late but testing negative - anyone else had this?

My cycle varies from 25-29 days but I am now on day 32 with no sign of a period. Did a test this morning but it was negative. If there is still nothing in a few days I will test again but will all the lofty claims of the testing kits and their ability to detect hcg at 100 paces, it seems a bit odd.

I know there is nothing I can do but wait but is this fair common or am I (as I suspect) being tormented by mother nature, just for the hell of it?

best to test again in a few days- which test did you use?
I had a very faint line at a week overdue with a cheapy superdrug test.

beansprout · 04/12/2006 10:18

Earlybird which dh got at Sainsbury's. Have heard good things about the tests from Boots, so may go for that next time (if there is a next time).

Waiting is really tedious but at least we have festive emoticons in the meantime!

second preg test didnt get bfp until missed 2 periods-althou i was pg even when i missed first period and got bfn. i must just b another one like u!

steffy1 · 08/12/2006 14:54

merrylissiemas · 08/12/2006 14:56

Twohootsunderthemistletoe · 08/12/2006 15:18

beansprout - I recently was a week late turning on my period. I am normally about 29-30 days so thought I must be pregnant. I did a few tests but they were all negative.

Stress can also play a part in a late period - are you stressed/worried about anything in particular that could be causing it?

Hope you get the outcome you want.

MrsMcClaus · 08/12/2006 16:02

Beansprout - I feel for you and know what it's like. Do you know when you ovulated roughly?

stresshedd · 08/12/2006 22:18

Day 33 now and still no sign. V strange as no pg symptoms but no period symptoms either. Did another test this morning, still neg, no hint of a line.
I got a positive ov strip around 14 days after last period and apparently my reflexologist said I was too ( as she can somehow feel differences).

Have been TTC for 4 months and would so love to be pregnant but if I am at the mo, Im scared that its not a healthy pg as hcg must be so low, its not getting picked up on the pg test.
I had a mc in April at 12 weeks. Was devastated so didnt start TTC until August and had the silly assumption that i would fall pregnant again easily.

Would rather just know now either way so I can move on.

Beabsprout, any news?

steffy1 · 09/12/2006 12:04

well good luck everybody anyway......hat pg tests!

stresshedd · 10/12/2006 15:53

Day 35 and I woke up to my period. Am pleased in a way but disapponted also.

Ayway, just have to look forward to next mnth now!!!

MrsMcClaus · 10/12/2006 15:59

Great attitude Stresshedd, sorry that it was not the answer to the long cycle you were looking for and best of luck and a bucket of babydust for this one.

colditz · 10/12/2006 16:03

My period was 3 weeks late before BFP came - I must have conceived the day before my period was due!

BroodyChick · 19/12/2006 20:26

Any news beansprout?

I'm waiting right now. Only 2 days late, but crossing all my fingers and toes... trying to wait a couple days before testing again .

Good to know others are out there going through the same thing. Thanks ladies.

babylove123 · 19/12/2006 21:37

Stress, does your reflexologist say whether she can tell if you're pg? Hope everythings ok

stresshedd · 22/12/2006 18:04

Yeah she said that you could definitely detect changes in what she can feel, but she also said that even if she did suspect pg, she would never say just in case she was wrong for any reason.
Were still trying and hope like every month that this will be the one. Were not using the ov strips tho, were just leaving it to fate. I think that if you focus on it too much, it not only sends you mad, but it messes your system up, which is why i think I was a week late with my period.

i definitel agree that it helps to know that youre not the only one going thru wot youre going thru because before I found this site, I was convinced I was a failure and that there was something wrong with me but now I know Im not alone and other people out there hae either been thru it or are going thru it etc so its a real help.

Good luck to everybody out there. I really hpe that we all start the new year with good news.
Keep us all updated.

Merry Christmas to all

stresshedd · 22/12/2006 18:55

Heres me saying that Im not going to focus on TTC too much but does any1 have any clue as to when i should expect my next AF, as I was a week late last month.
Do I count 28 days from when I should have come on or from when i did come on, because I think Ive been getting that cervical mucus stuff for the past few days and that would be 14 days since I would have been due on. Weve been doing the deed since I finished my period on 15th and will keep doing it every other day until my next AF so at least we covr the right times.
If I had come on on time last month then I should be due my next AF on New years eve. Wot a gr8 start to the New year that would be i got a positive.

Anyway, im jumping the gun a bit ere arent I.
Please help if anyone knows,

Thanks

divamumdiva · 22/12/2006 19:02

I was 5 days late last month, i tested everyday. I was sure im pg, but av came after 5 days.

MrsMcClaus · 22/12/2006 19:12

Chances are your AF was late because you OVd later than usual. OV can be effected by stress etc whereas the post OV period cannot, it's pretty constant in a person.

If you are getting CM, that usually means your fertility is returning and that OV could be soon. Count from when AF arrived as that is the beginning of the new cycle as opposed to the end of the old one, if that makes sense.

You might find that you actually OV earlier or later than cd14, for example, I usually have a 28 day cycle too but tend to OV around cd16 or 17. Sounds like you are covering all bases anyway so the actul day OV dosn't matter that much.

Best of luck, my AF is due around the same time as yours so I'll be thinking of you. Re jumping the gun, I don't think you are, it is really important to stay positive and believe that it will happen

Merry Christmas!

stresshedd · 22/12/2006 19:27

Thankyou for replying so quickly and thankyou for your thoughts.

I had my last AF on 10th DEC so do you think its poss to start getting CM after day 8? It seems a bit early.

beansprout · 23/12/2006 07:32

Just wanted to say thank you to those who replied! AF came along later that day (boo) but am now in the middle of the 2ww for this cycle. Fingers crossed for me and everyone else!!

My AF turned up in the end too, dammit. Godd luck this time beansprout, will look forward to your happy news when it comes...

stresshedd · 23/12/2006 11:44

Good luck for this month beansprout.
Kp us updated.
Merry Christmas to everyone

MrsMcClaus · 23/12/2006 11:55

Stresshedd ? Absolutely, CD8 is not too early to start getting fertile CM at all. I read a case study the other day about a woman who was finding it hard to get pregnant and when she looked into it further, she was OV on CD5 and had been missing out on vital BDing every cycle because she had thought the CM was just part of her AF which had not yet finished! I am sure that is quite unusual to be so early but there are lots of ladies who do OV days before the traditional CD14 as there are ones that OV much, much later! Good luck this cycle

Beansprout & Santa ? sorry that last cycle wasn?t your lucky one, I hope this one is. I am half way through the 2WW too as are quite a few on the Positive December and Chart Spotting threads, I?ll add you to my prayers for a festive BFP!

Merry Christmas!
