I have literally just had my bfp!
I am 43 and this is our second pregnancy, my first ended in mc on Christmas Eve at 10+2. I have no idea whether this is a sticky bean yet, but hoping and praying!
So we have been trying really for 3 years.
My first pregnancy when I fell in October was the first month I used the Clearblue digital opk's. Before that we had used nothing and had "hoped" a lot.
After the miscarriage, I got a lot more serious. I decided to take the following vitamins: folic acid & zinc. Then I read up on vitamin D and for the last month I have been taking them. Also, I read that co-enzyme Q10 can help the quality of your eggs and as an old bird thought it would be worth a try.
If I had got to the page where it had suggested vitamin B then I probably would have tried that as well.
My hubby was on, zinc, magnesium, omega 3 and cod liver oil (for his knees!)
I also had my bloods done and they were fine, and hubby just got his letter from the hospital to check his sperm. I think he's still going to go as it's still very early days and just in case anything goes wrong with this one.
Now DTD. This month was really strange. As it said I used the Clearblue digital opk's, I also used a fertility app called Ovia, but never really got into the temperature business, although I am sure that if I'd gotten anymore desperate, then I would!
We also read the Sperm meets Egg Plan which suggests having intercourse on alternative days from day 8 until you get your positive opk, then every day for 3 days and then miss a day and then one more for luck! Well, I am 43! The hubby just turned 50 and that is so much easier said than done. I worked out in the calendar month of May we only did it 6 times in total. Once I saw this, I did tell hubby that we had to up our game in June, if we were ever going to get the result we wanted!
Also this last month May, I never got my smiley face at all on the opk, so that might be why we were a little lax in the bedroom department. I really really thought that I did not ovulate. So the times we did do it were based pretty much on the app readings.
I firmly believe that we were doing it too late, and for us, waiting for the positive opk we may have been missing it, for some it's the other way and it's delayed, so you do need that extra one for luck.
I also had 3 sessions of reflexology with the specific intention of helping us conceive. My practitioner was fab, this again was always done around the time of ovulation and I believe she did my feet the last time just a day after we conceived. There is no scientific evidence for this, but it was lovely and in my mind, I'm sure it helped.
Just to add as well, it was hubby's 50th the week we conceived, we were off work and relaxed, there is a lot to say about not stressing, but hey, that is generally my permanent state and it would only have got worse with all the passing months and cycles!
Good luck and keep going!
