This is my first post after some lurking, think I know my acronyms now but please bear with me.
I’m 37 nearly 38, been ttc #1 for about 7 months, DH is 34. We’re both healthy except I had major bowel surgery for endometriosis about 14 months ago, was all kinds of horrible. Had second op (on bowel not ovary) last May, and after a few months rest, started ttc. Been using OPK which say I’m ovulating though I know it's not 100%.
For the past 2 cycles, have had what I thought might be implantation bleeding – tiny amount of brown spotting, over a couple days around day 20 to-23 of 28-day cycle. Both times, I’ve then gone on to have a waaay heavier period than normal.
I’ve booked to see GP but meanwhile, I’m wondering if these were mini-chemical pregs and if the endo is causing some kind of implantation problem. This just my google-induced theory of course but I'd like advice on it. I will ask GP who is good, but I wanted to do research first in case she offers me choice of consultants to be referred to. Should we ask to see fertility gynae, or general one to get bleeding checked out (as it might not be related to conceiving at all). If we do see a fertility consultant, will they send us straight down the IVF path, or just tests initially? Hospital gynae man after my op said, 'if you don't conceive within 6 months try IVF' which seems drastic (am bit scared of IVF having had enough ops to last a lifetime).
Obviously I will be asking GP all these questions but wanted to do a bit of research before I see her. Is there anyone good who specialises in endo and fertility? I’m in N London. Sorry if this is a bit garbled. I’d be grateful for any advice.
