Hi ladies, this is just a rant really but am feeling fed up today .

We have been ttc no.2 for 5 cycles. I went to the fertility clinic after only 4 cycles because when ttc no.1 I had long cycles (45-60 days) and I wanted things checked out. The clinic did a scan, diagnosed PCOS and prescribed metformin as my cycles are still a bit long 33-35 days.

However, I definitely ovulate every month (confirmed by blood test my progesterone was 60 on 7dpo), I have 1 or 2 +OPK's each cycle, I have a 14 day LP, I am not overweight, no excess hair, no acne.

So, I'm just feeling uncertain that metformin will benefit me at all and I DO NOT want to take it unless it is right for me because it is already upsetting my tummy etc. That would be ok if I wasn't ovulating and the drug was solving it but thats not the case! Their is no incentive for me at the moment. I'm wondering whether to phone the clinic and discuss this with them tomorrow (if they will over the phone). They don't know the results of the 7dpo test.

Thanks for reading. I probably made no sense at all but feel better for writing it down!

LadyBee and LadyThompson- SO wonderful to hear this drug worked for you as I'm now taking it again as TTC no.3. Again, I'm really taking it as a stepping stone to perhaps taking clomid. So it's wonderful to hear of others who also conceived on metformin alone.

Ladybee - fingers crossed metformin works it's magic on us both again.

Hi just a message to say that it is worth the feeling crap with metformin.
I too have PCOS (and am convinced it was the pill that caused it as previously had periods like clockwork.)

Anyway i fell pregnant with DD1 after 1 months of taking it, though didn't realise until i was amost 3 months gone as put the feeling sick etc down to the metformin. I had previously been trying for 18 months.

I did not take the pill after DD and my periods returned to normal, it was almost like being pregnant cured me! I fell pregnant with DS straight away without metformin too.

Anyway i guess the thing i am trying to say it give the metformin a go and for those of you with PCOS there is hope that you will fall pregnant and it isn't always something you will suffer from.

Hello, just reporting back that I had success a second time after being on metformin for two months I'm now pregnant and crossing fingers that we get through the first trimester safely.
