Clearblue fertility monitor question

First month using the monitor, normally have cycles of 32/33 days and on day 13 today. Days 6-12 have all given me low fertility as I'd expected and then this morning I've had the result of peak fertility with ovulation - so I've totally bypassed high fertility, is this normal?

I expected to have low, then high then peak?

Also day 13 is really early for me to be ovulating but that's a sided issue altogether!

Any help/advice/words of wisdom greatly received!

Same for me this month and it's bloody annoying isn't it. They reckon it's as a result if oestrogen and LH rising simultaneously and weirdly there are lots of posts online saying on their low to peak cycle they got BFPs.

Interestingly for me this cycle I haven't had much EWCM at all, just traces. Can I ask if that was the same for you? Reason I ask is that slow rising oestrogen will produce EWCM and it sounds like neither of us had slow riding oestrogen this month or else we would have had some High days.

Thanks for the reply Sebsmummy!

Not had any EWCM yet, normally do in the run up to ovulation, hence why I hadn't expected the test to show any ovulation today.

Guess we best DTD then if going from low to peak is supposedly good for BFPs!

How many cycles have you been using your monitor for?

Since January but have had two miscarriages in that time unfortunately, so I'm sure that hasn't helped the monitor 'get to know me'. This is my second cycle since my last mc, last cycle was much more normal.

I also went out yesterday and bought some opk strips which I'm going to use every evening and just check I don't get a second LH surge. Interestingly yesterday the surge line was pretty strong in the evening, so I'm expecting this evenings to be stronger or weaker and that should give me an indication of whether the CBFM is right or wrong.

, I think the monitors are a bit paradoxical as you're supposed to use opk's at 2pm ideally. Yet you've got to use cbfm with fmu. The opk's seem more accurate to me, but which is correct?

sebsmummy1 · 13/07/2014 12:11

Hi darling. I think because the monitor is measuring both oestrogen and LH it is able to detect a shift using FMU.

For me, don't want to speak for the OP , this is a weird cycle. Lots of watery creamy cm, no real EWCM, early peak on the CBFM and opks showing a strong but not positive line today and yesterday. Personally I suspect my age is at okay here, can't blame the monitor unfortunately.

Get shagging anyway! Wink

I think you can get multiple highs (but not peak) as you're body has a false start to ov. A close but no cigar type scenario.

Hello ladies, it's two peak days in a row for me so definitely trusting the machine to be telling the truth! Interested to see if it will sink to high fertility tomorrow morning or drop straight to low! What's the norm?

I'm afraid once you get your first peak it stops reading the sticks and gives you another peak and then and high and then lows. I only feed it fresh sticks on those days as I read the lines of the sticks. If you just bin the sticks afterwards then you can put a used stick in for two days after your first peak to save money.

Oh ok! That's good to know. So tomorrow I will get a high response, but god knows if it's actually the case then!
