Am I 43 and pregnant and in denial?

Hi everyone. Need some friends.
Ttc for 15 months following vasectomy reversal. Gave up as wasn't working and things weren't swimming properley!
Lost some bits of blood on Thursday (never bleed before AF), only when I wiped. Thought it was strange. Anyway, had four very faint BFP's since then. Period due today. Don't feel pregnant and have cramps.
Can four tests be wrong?
I'm scared that i'm pregnant and scared that i'm not. Can't get my head around it :)

It sounds as if you are pregnant! Implantation bleeding is quite common.

callamia · 23/06/2014 10:20

I'm excited for you - a faint line is a line.
A small bit of bleeding is pretty common too.

Rest, and test again - and good luck! This might be marvellous news.

callamia · 23/06/2014 10:22

I have no idea why that says 'rest' - it wasn't supposed to.
By all means have a rest, but I can't imagine you want to right now.

Thanks. I'm a nervous wreck. Running to the loo every five mins to check. Not good when you're sitting in an office.

My first pregnancy, I thought my period was starting early because I had blood when I wiped too. I had to dash out and buy tampons (we were on holiday and due back before my period was due). Never needed them!
Have you done a first-thing-in-the-morning test? When were your 4 faint ones? Have you tested today?
Tests are very rarely wrong when they are positive, even a faint line is still a line....

snowgirl1 · 23/06/2014 10:35

Maybe try getting one of those tests that give a digital reading of how many weeks pregnant you are. I had a very faint line on the first couple of tests I used and wasn't sure whether to believe them or not - only believed it when I got one of the tests with a digital display. Fingers crossed for you!

drivenfromdistraction · 23/06/2014 10:37

It may be that you were pregnant but had a very early miscarriage (these are very common). On pregnancy tests, the small print in the instructions warns that you will get a BFP for a while (can't remember how long - I think up to a couple of weeks) after a miscarriage, because the hormone level takes a while to drop.

I'm sorry to bring that up, since it's probably not what you want to hear, but wouldn't want you to get excited and then disappointed, so important to consider this (maybe look in the instructions of your pregnancy test and see what it says about this?)

Since Friday morning I have done 3 morning tests and one afternoon test. They are all faint but have got much clearer since. They are definitely not evap lines as they have colour in them. I feel like i'm imagining everything but my mum and partner can see them and i have done hundreds of tests over the last 15 months and never seen anything.
It's funny as you wait this long and then when it happens you don't want to believe it! If I start to believe that I am then my period will come.

Awww sounds promising. Fx for you hun. I agree try a digi test xx

Inshock73 · 23/06/2014 14:22

Sounds like you're pregnant to me and in denial! :)

Congratulations!

Try a digi test it will tell you clearly how many weeks you are.

sebsmummy1 · 23/06/2014 14:41

OP the lines should get darker fairly rapidly, say over the course of a week. If they continue to stay faint then there is a strong chance the egg didn't implant properly and your hcg levels won't rise that high.

I had similar happen to me recently and unfortunately the pregnancy was non viable and my hcg only went up to about 200.

MonserratCaballe · 23/06/2014 14:46

A pharmacist told me to do it first thing in the morning with the first wee of the day, even with the more sensitive tests. The wee has been in you overnight and so should be more concentrated and show the real picture. If you have been drinking a lot then your wee will be dilute and so it might show up as a very faint line (or not at all)

Best of luck X
