Never thought i'd be pleased to have period pain

Hi all

I had the mirena coil out in Sept 13 as hubby and i decided to start TTC #1. As all first timers TTC i promised myself i would be relaxed and not become obsessed - easier said than done.

No BFPs despite symptom spotting and AFs were always so so light with no pain - not at all how i remember AFs pre birth control (Cilest for 8 years, Mirena coil for 9mths). Some months i would barely need to use a liner.

After doing some reading up i had discovered that it is possible for the mirena to thin the uterus lining and thus taking time for BFPs to be possible. This morning i was woken with excruciating period pain and a much more normal flow. I am taking this as a positive that my body may finally be getting itself back to the point of being able to be a home for our first little bean!! Never thought being on my AF and being in pain could actually be a sign of something positive to come.

Anyone had any similar experiences with their cycle after having their mirena removed?

I'm having it after stopping BF.

I had very light periods for the last six months of BF (tiny bit of spotting) but I'm convinced I was ovulating (I had a scan which showed me about to ovulate, I got positive OPKs, then the spotting two weeks later etc etc).

I'm now 2 months out of stopping BF and I think I ovulated 10 days ago. For some reason stopping BF screwed with my body which is ironic since I weaned DS in order to try to get pg again.. So although I'd rather have a BFP, I'm very jealous of your pain!!

Good luck!! I hope a BFP isn't too far away for either of us. Hubby thinks i am telling myself these things to stop me being so disappointed haha, but this is definitely the closest to how i remember AFs from before starting any type of birth control.

That sounds really promising. It sounds like it's just taken a while for your oestrogen levels to build up enough to give you a good lining - but also sounds like you've got there!! Hopefully though this'll be the last month you'll have this type of pain for a while (until labour :) ).

Smile Fingers crossed you're right. Hubby works away but hopefully he will be here for the crucial time next month!!Wink
