Pre Af Spotters??? come join me!

Hello ladies! I thought I'd start a new thread for ladies who get pre af spotting as I feel so frustrated every month when I get on and off spotting wondering if it is af coming but hoping every time that it is implantation bleeding! I though it would be useful to share our experiences but more importantly to log when we get our bfp's! As well as to see if the spotting continued before the bfp or if it did not happen the month a bfp was achieved!

I too suffer from pre-AF spotting intermittently. I had never had it in the 6+ months after I had come off the pill to TTC, I'd had normal regular cycles.

Then one month, I got some brown CM a few days before AF was due. I of course got my hopes up thinking it was implantation, as it had never happened before. It continued and developed into full AF. I should have learned my lesson not to assume IB...

That happened a few more times, very similar brown CM a few days before AF. Then it stopped, and I went back to having normal cycles.

This month, on CD23 of a 27-28 day cycle, I got pink tinged CM, some spots of fresh blood when I wiped. Never had this before..never been fresh blood. naturally, I assumed implantation and got my hopes up again. That was Friday. Saturday & Sunday, a tiny bit more spotting, but most of the day nothing. Just one or two occasions of pink CM and fresh blood.

Then today, Monday, what seems to be the onset of a light period. Just blood when I wipe, but not enough to reach my panty liner. I'm CD26. This is totally out of the ordinary for me - usual AF comes on with a bang, full flow, cramps, diarrhoea the works.

I am totally, thoroughly, utterly pissed off. I got my hopes up this month, I googled images of 'implantation bleeding' (yuck, why?) and what I had looked exactly like those images. But now it seems it wasn't at all.

I do have suspected endometriosis (haven't had the tests to confirm yet, but the GP suspects it, and I'm certain of it - I poo blood clots during, and only during, my period. It must be endo) - so I do wonder whether the endo is causing the spotting?

No idea, but good to share experiences with people who are going through the same thing. Mama sounds like our cycles are pretty much in sync. I too hate those few days of hoping... and at least when the full AF comes you know where you stand and make a fresh start.

I tend to spot up to 3 days before AF, but it's usually only 1-2 days. It's more pinkish when I wipe rather than blood or brown. I had similar throughout my last pregnancy which ended in a late miscarriage. I hadn't really thought anything of it really! I kind if assumed most people spotted a few days before their period but maybe not after reading this thread?! My luteal phase is around 14 days.
It does piss me off though as sometimes the 3 spotting days seem like the longest time in the world and all I want to do is for AF to arrive so I can crack on with my next cycle!

Cosy I know it's so frustrating! Here I am on cycle 9 and started spotting from 5dpo (very light brown only at cervix), now at 8dpo and is continuing! So frustrated as it has not started prior to 8dpo before so 5dpo is very early and annoying!!!

I'm only on cd21 so expecting a further 6 days of this spotting before full flow!!!!! What a drag!!!!!

I noticed when I was ttc that I got pre af spotting and like many of you got my hopes up that it was implantation bleeding. Then one month a similar thing, had several days of pre af spotting, resigned myself to it being my period and infact had several glasses of wine, as i was so certain period was coming.Then I noticed it was getting lighter a few days later and got a bfp. She's 13 months now.

So no idea why some months it ended in af, and one month it didn't!

I am a spotter and also new on mumsnet. Here is my story:

TTC since January 2016 (December stopped microgynon). January - March my cycles were all over the place, but since April my cycle are 30days and i think i ovulate CD17 on most cycles +/- 1 day. I do not temp and only use OPk's and get pimples and painful ()() and sensitive (.)(.) right after ovulation. So for me these three are the biggest sign that i have ovulated. These three signs remain with me until around 2 days before my AF shows up.

The problem i am dealing with all my cycles so far is the incessant spotting (brown, brown clear, very little stringy brown ...sorry TMI) for 3-4 days before my AF starts every month. However, this cycle is different in many ways:

1. this cycle the spottings started very early on CD25 (should be 8 dpo) with slight occasional stitches in my left pelvic area, similar to ovulation cramps. So, 6 days before impending AF;
2. my (.)(.) stopped being sensitive on CD 25 (should be 8 dpo) and again they never do until CD27/28;
3. Also, my pimples cleared up on CD26 (should be 7 dpo) which they do not until CD27-28;
4. my ()() stopped hurting on CD21 (should be 4 dpo) which do not stop hurting until CD 28;

Above all this Yesterday (CD 27/ 10 dpo) my lower abdomen area had burning sensation along with cramps, i though the AF would arrive early, even though the burning was new for me. Woke up today with no pain, no burning and just very slight brown, clear brown spotting

Note: for the spotting i have got the blood test and ultrasound. Everything came out as normal. My GP does not seem very concerned and says this should not interfere with my TTC plans.

That is it for now. I'll keep you all posted if i get a BFP. So far i do not feel very positive. :( If you have any insight please do reply. I might be in need for some encouragement in a few days when AF shows her face! :'(

Hi all, I'm AF spotting. I'm looking for some advice/reassurance/hope/reality check please?

2nd month TTC #2, I'm currently 12 dpo expecting AF tomorrow. I've been tracking symptoms past two months to stop me going crazy, however this months symptoms very different from last. Near constant mild cramping and twinges since 3dpo a few others such as change in taste, coffee tastes bitter, beef yesterday tasted rancid although in date. Rib ache, occasional waves of tiredness mid afternoon. Doesn't amount to much but almost the same as when pregnant with DS and we conceived cycle 2 with him.

Anyway tested this morning BFN on Internet cheapie, then sometime between 9am-11am I had a little brown watery spotting/discharge on my underwear, nothing when I wiped and nothing since. Initially I assumed AF was starting but this is not normal for me, usually go straight into heavy flow. I was so sure something was different this month but now I think I'm clinging onto hope as I read that 'spotting' can occur around time AF is due but can still be pregnant.

Anything similar happen with you that resulted in a BFP?

Hey MrsS82 - I wish you the best an a sticky bean. I hope you get a BFP soon. I am in a similar boat and unfortunatley dont have an answer for you yet as my AF is due in 2 days. I will keep you posted.

No more spotting, just that isolated incident yesterday but also no AF. Due today, never ever been late in 22 years of af but another BFN on internet cheapie this morning. I don't know what to think. I have a cbd but was saving them for when I had a positive on the cheapies first

MrsS82 - No AF is great. I recon you should wait and test again in a couple of days. I am hopeful for you. I suppose the levels will rise every 24 hours if implantation has taken place. So, Fingers crossed for you.

I am waiting for my AF not to arrive. Clutching straws until Saturday morning and then i will use an expensive test. So far i have also used internet cheapies.

Pre AF spotting is a new thing for me since coming off the pill and it drives me spare!

I remember the firdt couple months TTC I was convinced I was pregnant and just obsessively googled implantation spotting.

I now know that I get about 3-4 days of pre AF brown spotting and not to get my hopes up.

Today red spots. I know i am out this month. Gutted...again! 5 months and counting...Goodluck to you all.

I will try and not get excited about spotting in luteal phase...cant help myself :(

Well that's me out, 2 days late for the first time in my life but AF arrived this morning. Symptom spotting, for 2 months, 2 months entirely different symptoms and it made no odds. Oh well, next month maybe

Hi. I know this is an old thread but just wanted to see if anybody has had any answers or fallen pregnant? I had a mc one year ago and ever since spot from 8dpo onwards. Progesterone ok, cervix ok ...just not falling pregnant anymore ..
