So I am now 6 days late but have been getting negatives on both cheapies and frer's.
Can I still be in with a chance ?
Should have ov'd on 30th October but am thinking I may have ovulated late on 7th November as had a lot of ov sypmtoms from then onwards.
We last dtd on the 5th as obviously thought we had caught the ov days as per ov date on the 30th.
What's going on ?
Has this happened to anyone else before and they ended up with bfp ?
Xxx

with DS2 I must have ovulated late, because we DTD the day before AF was due and I fell pg!

the test didn't show BFP until 3 weeks after missed period.
you could easily be pg!

fx!

Thank you for giving me some hope. I think I def ovulated late as boobs started to hurt on the 7th and haven't stopped hurting since. (This is normal for me). Also had a lot of ewcm from 7th onwards. My only concern is that we last dtd on the 5th so may not have caught ov if the it was late of course.

you are fertile for 3-4 days before ovulation because the sperms that reach the fallopian tubes can "wait" for the egg to ripen.

you are also fertile for about 1-2 days after ovulation as the egg is also able to wait for the sperms to arrive.

if you ovulated on the 7th and you have a regular period (and average luteal phase) your period should be due anytime between today and Sunday latest.

if I were you I'd take another test on Monday morning, because based on the above conditions your first day of missed period would be Sunday the very latest - therefore on Monday you'd get a BFP if pg.

does that make sense?

9 days late now and still nothing. I am def thinking I ov'd late on 7th/8th. My luteal phase is usually 17/18 days so I think you are right. I guess theoretically I am not late yet. Will test sun/mon and see what happens then. Fingers crossed x

Just wanted to say it's not right about being fertile 1-2 days after ovulation. Yes, an egg can survive after ovulation, but only for 12-24 maximum and the quality of the egg decreases as the hours pass, so there's less chance of becoming pregnant. The best days for dtd is during the 2 days before ovulation, and the day of if you manage to catch it in time, but not later than that. Healthy sperm survives 2 - 5 days.

I'm in the same position OP, thought I ovulated around the 4th as had lots of ewcm, but now thinking it might have been a week later around the 11th as had some cramps then too. AF hasn't shown up this week and I keep getting BFNs. Very frustrating!

NurseSapphire · 21/11/2013 16:24

It's not too late at all! Got my BFP two days ago, TEN DAYS LATE. I had continuous BFNs up until that point. Fingers crossed for you. xx

Mandyflo · 21/11/2013 20:10

Oooohhhh! NurseSapphire that does give me hope. Am holding out until Sunday to test. Boobs starting hurting from the 7th onwards so thinking I def ov'd then. They don't hurt as much now except for during the night. They are not too bad laying down but if I get up to go to the toilet they are excruciating and feel like they are on fire. Have never had this before so hoping it is as sign. This has been for the last 2 nights. Had what I think was very, very light pink cm when I wiped yesterday also.
Fingers crossed xxx
