Clearblue Fertility Monitor - User Club

So… anyone else here using the clear blue fertility monitor? Not the normal ovulation test sticks, but the actual monitor.

Thought we'd form our little club, exchange stories of how it's going so far, and just support each other in this seemingly hi-tech business of TTC. Gosh - what did they do in medieval times? Did Da Vinci or Galileo invent a fertility monitor that was widely used, but yet to be uncovered? Wink

Anyway, here are my stats:

  • First cycle of using monitor;
  • Started testing CD6 as expected from the manual;
  • High on CD7, and am a little surprised.

Seriously wondering whether peeing after midnight on CD5 caused hormones to be low on CD6, hence machine 'thought' (detected, more like) there was a surge on CD7???

OR maybe this is ONE of the reasons why TTC was difficult - never did the deed before CD12 before.

OR the machine is still adjusting to my system.

What about you?

Hey juniper sorry about another high. How annoying. I had a look in my diary last night and noticed that I had a 38 day cycle in November last year. The machine asked me for 20 sticks in total and I had 6 days of Highs before I got a peak on day 22.

I'm on CD 17 now and still no high/peak yet. Only one stick left so had to go out and get some more, hopefully it will ask me for another pack of 10 to find a High/peak.

It is so frustrating, I understand how you feel. Really hope you are feeling brighter soon.

I have heard good things about acupunture on other threads so hopefully it will work out for you.

Good luck

According to CBFM my peak days were last thu and fri, I then had one high day on sat and low on Sunday but it's STILL asking me for sticks?!? I have refused to waste any on post ov low days but am I actually being silly? Is this going to mess up its little computer brain???

blamber · 12/02/2014 09:14

Parsley, I just stop feeding it sticks after a peak. It won't mess up the monitor. You can save the sticks and use them for next time. It's fine to mix sticks from different batches as well. CB make their money from the sticks, so they would encourage usage.

Parsley2506 · 12/02/2014 13:53

Thanks blamber!

Parsley2506 · 21/02/2014 15:00

juniper how was DH's SA? No luck for me this cycle Hmm

Bigmonkeylittlemonkey · 21/02/2014 15:03

I have name changed since I last posted but despite not getting a peak reading we got our BFP last week. Thrilled to boys and hope all goes well

Bigmonkeylittlemonkey · 21/02/2014 15:03

Oops thrilled to bits not boys!

sebsmummy1 · 21/02/2014 15:23

Thought I'd join this as in hoping to start using my monitor again very soon.

Bought a brand new one late December. Got pregnant first month of using it although I never hit peak. Lost the pregnancy three weeks ago, am showing an extremely faibt positive on hpt now so thought I might try using it from tomorrow morning. I've set it to show day 5 today so can launch in tomorrow.

EnglishGirlAbroad · 24/02/2014 10:24

Thought id join too. CD6 of my first cycle using my cbfm! just poas for the first time!! How does everyone find it? Hoping this is the key for me this cycle. on my 3rd cycle post mc.... naively thought i'd be one of those hugely fertile post mc lucky buggers!!

Now hope this month is straight forward, nice normal ov date (14-16) and lots of dtd!!!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 24/02/2014 10:25

oh and congrats bigmonkey! Smile

sebsmummy1 · 24/02/2014 10:37

Hey English

Well I ended up setting it for 5pm, inadvertently really, but now that's my window so I'm going with it! Saturday I got low, yesterday I got high and my lines were pretty close to peak. So really hoping I get peak today but am expecting a load of highs like my first month. My EWCM has gone now so I suspect I will ovulate today or tomorrow.

sazzlehopes · 24/02/2014 13:57

I just wanted to post as I joined this thread at the beginning and say I got my bfp after 4 months using it (previous to that I was 10months just using normal opks). It gave me similar pattern each month, but the month I fell it showed peak two days earlier. I'm quite a control freak so liked the monitor for that reason.
I'm only 8 weeks, so I'm holding onto it in case! But I defo think it helped with dtd at the right time, and starting earlier and keeping going which if I'm honest about I hadn't done so much of that in the other months.
Good luck ladies, hope you don't have to wait too long for your bfps.

sebsmummy1 · 24/02/2014 15:32

Well my surge is over and the monitor showed me as High.

I cannot blame it as the first month of using it i fell pregnant, so it had no idea of my cycle, then mc, so once again i have no idea of my cycle. Then turned it on again two days before i have ovulated, and it has no idea of my cycle lol. If i don't fall pregnant in this WTF cycle i don't know whether to do a full reset and just start again fresh. Im not inclined to waste 17 sticks on this cycle when i don't think the machine will learn anaything at all about what is 'normal' for me.

JuniperJones · 24/02/2014 20:16

hi, the SA came back pretty bad so we're disappointed about that.

However, I got a BFP Grin

No thanks to the monitor though, I gave up on it after the week of highs.

Good luck all!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 25/02/2014 07:55

Congratulations Juniper!! Smile

Should I be using fmu with the cbfm? I know the cb OPKs say to use it, just wondered about the monitor.

sebsmummy1 · 25/02/2014 08:08

English. I think you can set your window at any time if the day but one of the advantages of CB is you can use your FMU so it makes it more user friendly.

I think it's because the CB are using both your LH and oestrogen levels as markers whereas ICs are using your LH only and that is best measured in the afternoon/early evening.

sebsmummy1 · 25/02/2014 08:08

Congratulations Juniper xxxxx

EnglishGirlAbroad · 25/02/2014 08:31

Thanks Sebs, i thought that was the case. I set it so i can use it in the morning as i think i'd forget if i left it til later.
CD7 - Low. As expected. Little bit annoyed that you have to start at day 6, clever CB. Start early, use more sticks, buy more sticks!!

blankfornames · 22/05/2014 12:02

Hi there, hope this thread is still on the go! I had a m/c 6 wks ago and AF departed yday. I've started to use the cbfm and am on cd8. I've read here that waiting till cd11 can save on sticks. I usually ov around day 14. Is this risky or thrifty? Wishing you all well!

loss19 · 28/09/2014 11:35

Hi Hope someone can give me a bit of advice??? Really confused!!!
Have used clear blue monitor for a year, last two months been high reading from day 9 to day 28??? Any ideas why?

TIA Feeling hopeful. x
