I am trying my best but agree by time you get home from work, have tea etc it really is just too hot.

Think i might borrow a fan from work today.

rubles · 04/07/2006 08:14

Oh yes get a fan, they make the world of difference.

MrsBadger · 04/07/2006 08:23

top tip - get in from work and have nice cooling shower (with dh)

once you've had dinner and hit the sofa it's so hard to get up again

Nicki10 · 04/07/2006 08:33

Good tip Mrs Badger will try that, also think I might invest in a fan today!

I shouldn't complain really about the weather once autumn comes I'll be complaining it's too cold!

Will be trying that one tonight.

Thanks

Tommy · 04/07/2006 09:34

is your garden secluded?! You could try it out there

Piffle · 04/07/2006 10:26

Fans
Cool shower before bed, then let yourself be cooled and dried by the fan
Then jump in and get to it!

wannaBe1974 · 04/07/2006 12:06

get a plastic bottle, fill with water and put in the freezer. put it in front of the fan and it will cool the air down a lot more than just a fan. then get to it! lol

Natty1806 · 04/07/2006 13:05

Good tip about freezing the water.

Natty1806 · 04/07/2006 13:14

Bad news - just spoke to DP and he is out tonight so no loving for me

I keep telling him this is not the way babies are made

Think i have managed to presuade him to have a holiday, looking at first week of september so that will give me something else to think about for 8 weeks or so rather than ttc.

Nicki10 · 04/07/2006 13:29

Good idea I also have loads of friends who were TTC for ages and who went on holiday and just fell pregnant. They all reckon it's because they stopped thinking about it so much and were just enjoying the holiday. I hope this works for you too Natty!

Great tips guys I will try the frozen water with the fan tonight and it will mean there's no excuses!

Unfortunately my garden is very much overlooked but it would give the neighbours something to talk about I guess!

OP posts:
Natty1806 · 04/07/2006 15:49

My list of possibles are:

Zante
Lazarote
Tenerife
Gran Canera (sp?)
Kos
Halidki (sp)

You going away?

Nicki10 · 04/07/2006 15:59

No I work in theatre so unfortunately I have to work everyday that there is a performance.

Were going to the Edinburgh Festival for two weeks in the summer but that is also work related (but with a lot of social drinking!)

I have a week off in August but were hoping to totally redecorate the house! I'm not sure if it's slightly unrealistic! But I would love to go away somewhere hot

Natty1806 · 04/07/2006 17:36

The whole house! i hate decorating.

Festival sounds good though.

desperate2bmum · 04/07/2006 19:42

yeah i would book now if i had the money but its going to be a kind of birthday suprise for my dp so as i only workpart time im not loaded so hoping w can get a bargain when i book two weeks before. i think itl be a nice break for the both of us for some"quality time"

Natty1806 · 04/07/2006 20:04

That's nice of you.

I am going to start saving now and to be honest it probably be a late deal, i have never done one of these before. I usually book my holiday 6-8 months in advance, but this year i kept saying to myself but what if i am pregnant etc etc. You know how it is.

Nicki10 · 05/07/2006 08:24

Thank you for your fan and water tips it worked a treat and also meant that i got some sleep for the first time in three nights!.

I have an air conditioner in the bedroom (was about £50 at Homebase on sale last year, so not exhorbitant). I use it a lot because of severe hayfever, it makes the bedroom totally hayfever free for me (otherwise I am debilitated by it for three months every summer). On a hot day like yesterday it is absolutely wonderful

Nicola63 · 05/07/2006 10:34

PS this stuff also helps, I use it when travelling to hot countries and it does work (for a little bit anyway!)
