What on earth is going on with my hormones this month? Ideas please...

My body is out to get me, I have very tender boobs and have had since days before my period was due, my period was two days late, then very light, stopped then started again, then finished after 3 days (usually 5 days long and much heavier), I had sickness every day of the last week of my cycle. Period finished on Sunday and I still have painful boobs, tingly and sensitive. Spots popping out everywhere, jawline etc.

I have done 4 tests, two before and embarrassingly two after my period - since it was so short - and obviously negative. we have been TTC since Dec, had one MC, in May, but this is the 3rd cycle since then and has been fine up until now, although last month had the sickness and tenderness, it finished when I got my period, a day late.

I am never late, usually 28 day cycle, no messing about, but I just do not know what is going on with my hormones. Anyone know any sensible reason my boobs would still be hurting as much now? I am posting here because I assume that the vast majority of you are as in tune obsessive about your cycles as I am - it might just be my brain playing tricks as so desperate to get up the duff again.

Hmm. A few options, I think:

  1. You are pg. Probably unlikely, but possible. Some people do appear to have periods in early pg. Maybe test again in a week if you still have symptoms? Some people take a while to get a BFP.
  1. You're reacting to the progesterone rise in the second half of your cycle. I've started doing that too (also after a mc - if it wasn't enough for you to lose your baby, they screw up your hormones and cycles too) and it's a bit miserable. I wouldn't have expected it to go on this long, but I suppose it's possible.
  1. Your cycles, and therefore hormones, might just be taking a while to settle down after the MC.
  1. You might be ill and mistaking it for something else.

If it carries on, I'd go to the doctor. They might suggest putting you on the Pill for a few cycles if it is hormone-related.

Thanks, some ideas there, I am pretty sure not PG now as it has been over a week since my period due and the tests were all negative, I got early BFPs both times before.

Boobs are the worst, absolutely agonising now. Both of them so at least I know it isn't something more worrying I guess. Interesting about the progesterone, I am going to the docs with DD tomorrow for her so might just ask their advice. I also have spots which are appearing on my scalp now, which I only get when run down.

Sorry to hear about your MC - it is shitty, hope you get sorted too - how did you find out about the progesterone, if you don't mind me asking? Is it blood tests or something?

I would be worried about having to go on the pill as I just feel time is getting away from us, I'm 36 and just am getting a wee bit fed up...
