Hi, I'm new to this so trying to get used to abbreviations and everything!

Me & my partner of 6yrs recently decided to TTC in June. However, as we were going on holiday and my last packet of pills ended the week before, I doubled up to avoid bleeding on holiday. I was prescribed antibiotics while on my last packet but, as we had already decided to try for a baby, we did not take extra precautions. After finishing the pill my "fake period" arrived as expected but it was very light (almost like heavy discharge) and only lasted a couple of days...as I had taken two packets back-to-back I was expecting a lot heavier and, in my enthusiasm, decided it must be implantation bleeding so took a test and it was negative.

I was expecting my period on17/07/13 but was aware that as this was my first period after finishing the pill that it might be late. On the 19th, I got a big lump of cervical mucus (sorry about TMI! Blush) followed by some brown discharge. Since then, I've been having brown discharge each day (not much, only tiny spots here and there) and I've had two instances of pink blood. I've been feeling sick for the last three weeks (all day, not just in the morning but i cant help but think its psychological!) I did take another test last weekend, after a week of no real period, but again it showed negative.

I know that it's far too early to be worrying but I can't help it! I was on the pill for 6yrs and prior to that had regular periods on a 28 day cycle...is this normal after coming off the pill (I was on cileste) and how long should this last?

If your pregnancy tests are showing negative its unlikely you will be pregnant. Coming off the pill means it can take a long time for cycles to settle and become regular (mine took 6 months but for others I know it took longer) so I'm afraid you need some patience while this happens

Thanks, I think I'm just worried because all my friends that have come off the pill have had weeks/months without periods but I have had the constant spotting/discharge so I took to google to work out if anything was wrong...of course google had everything from "it's normal, wait 6mths and then go to the doctor" to "it's cancer/pcos/etc./etc. get to the doctor now! I should know better than to google anything!

I wouldn't worry yet. My doctor mentioned they'd want me to wait 6 weeks without a period before seeing me, and as you have come off the pill it is very normal for your cycles to be all over the place. With me it took around 8 weeks for me to get my first period and them each cycle after that for 4 or 5 cycles was incredibly varied in length from 20 to 45 days (leaving me lots of times convinced I was pregnant!). FX it sorts itself out quickly for you
