Hi everyone,

I have just joined the site, and would love to hear your stories.

I came off the pill in May, and started trying this month, how do you calm yourself in not getting your hopes up for AF not to arrives (she's due any where between tomorrow and Sunday)

I don't like waiting lol

Folic acid especially is meant to be taken three months prior to conception but I think you'll be okay if you just start taking it asap.

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 11:52

I am thinking about perhaps going down and getting Pregnacare today, but I am already lousy to take the folic acid, so another pill to remember is not going to make it easy.
Oh fertile week, wish I could feel that, I think there is no changes at all with me. I only feel like a day before my AF come, but beside that all feels the same :( Wish I could get some kind of hint on when the best dates were... Still trying those conception tests that I bought from tesco (Is Tescos own brand ok?) But so fare negative all the way.
My doctor told me that sperm is filled up within 12 hours, so one can actually do it 2 a day with no problem. We love sex in the first place, so we prob do it like 5 times a week :) Hope thats enough, hihi. Otherwise we take the last 2 days as well.
blueamber: Thanks for the advices, I just wish I could check my Cervical mucus but usually there is nothing in the panties, so I think my best chances are the sticks.
Will try the Pregnacare tho, both to him and me :)

VJONES1985 - Studies have shown, that woman who accidentally get pregnant if there are missing a pill or 2 have usually missed more pills, but do not want to admit it and often, it is woman who want to become pregnant but don't want to take the talk with their OH. Trying to see if I can find the article again, tho I think it was from Denmark

VJONES1985 · 02/08/2013 12:09

Ah, that's interesting, Italian, and I didn't know that.

As for ovulation week, it seems to be around 12-14 days before AF so if your cycles are regular, you can work it out roughly from that. However, having sex at least every 2 days should cover it.

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 12:11

I was on the pill 12 years, I reckon I missed at least 1 pill every month and never had a scare (sometimes as many as 5) so it sounds like that might be the case - Italian.
VJones - I will be taking my folic acid from today now, thanks for the advise. I have also read tips to help get caught, they say that you should be eating healthy, cutting down your caffeine intake, aim to be a healthy weight, certain sex positions may help also.

I am still looking for the article, if I find it, I will post it.
12-14 days before should be this weekend, oi oi, better start having loads of DTD in the weekend lol.... Glad OH loooves it, haha....

I read that keeping the swimmers up for as long as possible helps, but I just cant lay there with the feeling of it leaking, it is just not me. Trying to not run to the toilet imminently after to give it a bit of time, but laying of whole night with it, I just cant....

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 12:24

Try putting a couple of pillows under your butt after, that might help, even if it is just for 10mins

I'm out for this month Hmm onwards and upwards, maybe my hormones will settle down this month and I will be upduffed!

Only been off the pill just over 8 weeks so maybe I need more time to get back to normal. Have a 32 day cycle 2 months in a row so at least it's regular Smile

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 12:37

keepswimming1 - hahahahaha, so defn gonna do that tonight.... Eventho OH will laugh loud and hard at me

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 12:38

clareyfarey I am sure next month is your month, and 8 weeks are not long no....

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 12:55

Clareyfarey - sorry to hear that, roll on next month xx

The thing us women go through a!!!

VJONES1985 · 02/08/2013 13:13

Yeah, I'll be doing the pillow thing too!

Aww, I was hanging on to the thought that I might be one of the lucky ones this month after just stopping the pill but the thought of dtd so regularly and possibly not even releasing an egg at all this month is making me a bit sad!

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 13:16

VJONES1985 You could be one of the lucky on, of course :D I am cheering for you....

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 13:25

Hey VJONES don't be sad, theres every chance you are the lucky one here. You could be in your fertile window very soon, dont give up hope!!

You want the swimmers to be able to swim down rather than an uphill struggle!

VJONES1985 · 02/08/2013 13:32

Thanks ladies - I am thinking of you both too!

Here's an interesting thing my friend told me - after the guy has ejaculated, the woman should orgasm because this widens the cervix and encourages more semen through. What do you reckon? She said she made herself orgasm using a vibrator after her husband had ejaculated when they were ttc.

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 13:37

I've never heard it before, I guess anything is possible though!

Hey I have just been to the loo and notice af is very light (I mean very light) do you think I could still be in with a chance? unless she comes thick and fast in the mean time of course.

blueamber · 02/08/2013 13:38

Italian, pregnacare has enough folic acid in so if you take those you wont have to take the folic acid as well.

What might help you to recognise your fertile days is cervical position. This should be a pretty clear sign once you start understanding how it works. It does involve feeling the cervix with your finger. When you're not in your fertile time, its lower down, feels hard and the opening is closed. Then closer to your fertile time, it rises, goes softer and the opening goes wider. If you google it it will give you more info.

Also, you don't have to keep the sperm in. Just lying down for 5 minutes is enough. The sperm will immediately swim up the cervix anyway. The stuff that comes out is the fluid, not the swimmers. It's also best to go to the toilet after sex to prevent urinary infections.

blueamber · 02/08/2013 13:39

There is no proof orgasms increase the chance of conception, but it does make dtd more fun Smile

VJONES1985 · 02/08/2013 13:43

Ah cool, thanks blueamber!

Yes, forgot to mention that to you, Italian, regarding Pregnacare containing enough folic acid. I have to have extra because I'm diabetic bit for the average person, just the Pregnacare on its own is enough.

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 13:56

blueamber Thanks for the description, makes it more understandable now... And happy to know, that 5 minutes laying down can do the trick :) Seems more durable than laying the whole night...

Never heard that one with orgasm, and I usually always get an orgasm under dtd, so would not fancy having to do it right after again...

Thanks also for the advice on folic acid, then it is just my iron and vit C I need to take with the pregnacare, I should be able to manage that lol

ItalianWiking84 · 02/08/2013 13:57

keepswimming1 I have heard of some where they think they have their AF and then in reality didnt have it, so might be a small chance of that :)

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 14:03

I'll try not to get my hopes up - I'm sure she will be back !!

Just found clear blue ovalation pack with 20 sticks in it in clearance sale at tesco for 8 pounds, normal price 35 ... So bought them, they look a lot easier than the tesco own brand ones :)

keepswimming1 · 02/08/2013 18:04
