How long to TTC before making use of private health?

Hello,
We have been TTC since April and I know that generally on the NHS they say give it a year before going to get tests etc, but I'm impatient and I also have private health cover through work and wondered if anyone has experience of how long you should TTC before getting tests etc privately?

I know it hasn't been long (and I was on the pill for 10 years so that will take some time for my body to adjust but I have my periods back so muct be ovulating), looking at all the other things I should be doing I have given up coffee and only drink one or two glasses of wine at weekends, I am fit and healthy with a BMI of 20 so just wondered if there is something else and would like to know sooner rather than later, but don't know if it is too soon to go to the Dr!
Maybe after 6 months?

Any advice/experience appreciated!

It's definitely too soon now. Anything up to a year is considered "normal", althought the NHS will start tests after 6 months if you are over 35.

Are you sure your health insurance covers fertility-related matters? I have a pretty comprehensive policy and mine doesn't. Neither does my friend's super duper investment bank-provided health insurance. They will often cover health issues that happen to affect fertility though, e.g. endometriosis. As far as I know, it is usually only international policies that cover this.

Thanks eurochick. Just feel like I want to be doing anything I can or to find out sooner rather than later if there is an issue... will double check my policy too and hold out for another few months!
