never had an ectopic before,but one of my friends has had 3.am really hoping that it is just down to bf and mc.doc said that if tests next week are neg,shes not going to do any blood tests until 6 months time.she said that if im not pg in 6 months she'll test that im ovulating,and for polycystic ovaries.also some other hormone tests.and my thyroid levels (i have underactive thyroid anyway,but if the levels have dropped again,then that could cause probs with concieving)

if you have a history of underactive thyroid I would definitely push to get that retested and treated. I have a friend who was having trouble conceiving no 2 - and a month after being diagnosed and prescribed something fo runderactive thyroid she was pregnant.

Hope it is not an ectopic - if it is - surely it would be better to go for a scan.

doctor said if result comes back pos next week then she'll send me to hospital.been taking thyroxine for about 8 years now.last blood test i had was ok.so doctor said if still no af and no baby in 6 months then she'll do blood tests.cant cope with this waiting.just text my friend to ask how she felt when she had her ectopics.i feel soo sick and emotional and this bloody migraine,i just cant shift it.

Hi Buffy, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have had an ectopic pregnancy, so if you want to ask any questions go ahead. I would have thought that the doctor would want to be taking a blood sample, rather than a wee sample for testing, as they can then test for bHCG in much smaller quantities than in wee. I hope you get some answers soon. Try googling The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (sorry, can't do links!) - they have a really helpful run down of symptoms etc

sad news, stay strong honey. And lie down with that head, my DP gets severe migraine and along with the prescribed drugs I sprinkle lavender oil everywhere on the bed and make him take feverfew as well. Are you eating regularly enough? His migraine got sooo much better when he realised part of the problem was blood sugar levels. Just a thought.

I have had a ectopic too, as Silverfrog has said, she really should have done a blood test far better than a urine. I hope its not one, if you have any questions feel free to ask me too

Was the Dr pretty sure it was an ectopic?

I reckon if you've managed to give birth to 5 successfuly, you'll definitely manage to have another one. Your body probably just needs some recovery time from the m/c.

Can you get DH to look after the littluns while you have a glass of wine in the bath?

hi everyone.doctor didnt say its definalty an ectopic,just she thought it might be as i have alot of pg symptoms,and especially as i have had no af now since march 10th.she said that shop pg tests dont always show up results if its ectopic.and thats why she wants to send my wee off to the lab.think shes not rushing into anything is because im not showing any ectopic symptoms (dont know what they are tbh but she said if i get any brown bleeding and/or really bad pain,to go straight to the hospital)just wish i didnt have to wait the weekend to take in my wee in.am going to throw myself into my coursework this weekend and try to take my mind off everything and just hope no af is down to mc and bf!tahnk you everyone,i dont have anyone else i can talk to about it so i really appreciate all your advice.

so sorry buffy. i had an ectopic three years ago. the symptoms you should be aware of include shoulder pain, abdo pain, and bleeding (usually brown and watery, but not necessarily - mine was bright red then stopped altogether).

i did get a +ive HPT, as did the vast majority of other ladies who've had eps - because the pg hormone is there, just not rising as it should.

as silverfrog says, a urine sample will only confirm or otherwise a pregnancy. in order to diagnose an ectopic they will normally take bloods to check the level of bHcg - and then again to see how it has risen. then they'll scan you.

FWIW I had an ectopic which ruptured and I tested + on a shop test day af was due and had ectopic the day after so very early. So I am hoping you are in the clear xx
I hope you can sort out what has caused this long and strange cycle for you if not pregnancy.

hi everyone.feeling abit better today,at least ive got rid of my headache!sent my so called friend a text cos shes had ectopics and coldnt believe her response!heres what she said,word for word
'got your msg earlier and had to think what to say.really its your own fault,you shouldve got snipped when you had alyssa.shudnt think its ectopic,youve got no history of prev ectopics.cant believe you,dont see why you want more kids anyway'
im really shocked and angry at what shes said.just never thought she would be like that.shes expecting at the mo and has already got kids,so i thought she wouldve been more supportive.i never text her back,and dont intend to.is it just me being abit oversensitive?

Buffy: if it were me I don't think I'd reply at all. Maybe leave it a few days, then if she hasn't got in touch, send her a text asking if she wants to get some stuff off her chest, and that if she does could she do it when you're not feeling so raw?

It's a weird response from her, which probably means she's got some other issues she hasn't brought up with you before.

thanks hopecat,i dont know what id do without mn tbh!!dh has said to ignore her.when i got pg with the last one,she stopped talking to me until after id had her.she said she was ttc and didnt want me rubbing her nose in it!dh reckons that because shes expecting now,its a case of no one else is allowed to be either.im not replying to her.she'll prob text me before i do her.just cant believe how nasty she has been.when she had her ectopics i was the first one there for her.i know i dont know for definate yet what is going on with me,but if it is ectopic,i jsut hope she wont carry on being like this.im really hoping it isnt,and because the gp said to watch for any pain or brown bleeding,my eyes are out on stalks!had some pains today,but none that have lasted,just like ive pulled something.dh reckons i am pg and that everything will turn out ok,he said maybe i got pg in the last couple of weeks and it wont show up yet.but that doesnt explain why ive had no af since march!just have to keep my fingers crossed until next week.how long do pee samples usually take to get the results back?im taking it in on monday.might do another home test next weekend if still not got the results back.am going to be a complete nervous wreck next week waiting!

what a nasty text :( sorry to hear your news, buffy. FWIW I was pregnant at the same time as my aunt (who is 4 years younger than me) we were due on the same day. She accussed me of (in her words) 'pissing on her fireworks!!' and she even phoned the hospital after I had dd2 7 weeks premature and called me a 'cow' for having my baby before her... people are so odd...

Well, while we're quoting 'shitty things to say' stories, when my SIL (who is 5 years younger than me) had her first, she told me and DH not to have a baby too soon (although she knows DH is infertile) so that 'we wouldn't take attention away from her baby', and then offered to carry a baby for me, although there is nothing wrong with me!
