Am I pregnant or is it the antidepressant pills?

Hey I'm new to all of this, but just wondered if anyone has experienced something similar to me. I am now 11 days late , but started using fluoxetine for depression 6 days ago. I have done 4 HPT's and all been negative. Went to the doctors and they took me off fluoxetine as can harm unborn babies. It's not very common but anti depressants have be known to stop periods, has anyone else had this or could I be pregnant? Any advice would be great thanks x

hi epi, I don't have direct experience of this sorry but I do know that stress can play havoc with your cycle, and starting a new anti depressant is very stressful! what contraception were you using? Xx

That's interesting that you were taken off the fluoxetine. I take that, and a few other drugs for bipolar disorder and am currently ttc. Out of all the drugs I take, fluoxetine is deemed the lowest risk.

My guess is that as SilverClementine said, stress has played havoc with your cycle. Meds and ttc is a dificult issue, and having not taken my meds for a few months because of risks to a potential foetus, I also have to stay well, so it's back on the meds for me.

If you really do need to take an anti depressant, the medical papers I have read suggest you could do a lot worse than fluoxetine.

Also with anti ds, you wouldn't have started to feel the benefits of the drug by then...just something to bear in mind.

After not taking the antidepressant yesterday I have came on today so it must have been that! But now I don't know if to start taking the pills again because I don't want this every month. And silverclementine, we were just using condoms as I'm in the process of changing from microgynon pill to the Yasmin pill x
