A very faint line, but didn't check for hours

Hello,

I'm ttc for the first time. I came off the pill at the start of December and had a period at my 'usual' time, which was mid month.

I did a load of ovulation tests at New Year but none came out positive. It's possible I wasn't doing them correctly as I misunderstood the instructions Blush

I am now ~ 5 days late for my period, although before I was on the pill I had massively irregular periods and had been referred to a gynae with suspected endometriosis. I cancelled my endoscopy because I'm a wuss I decided it was unnecessary surgery at that time.

Anyway, today I did a test but forgot to check on it after 10 minutes. When I came back to it after an hour or so, there was a very very faint line. I'm using these as they are cheap and easy.

Is the faint line just a chemical response post hours, or is it the start of a dark line? Will retest in the morning with first urine, but just wondered how reliable any form of line is!

Thanks Smile

Sometimes you can get an evaporation line if you check a while after the allotted time. Let us know how you get on this morning!

I've now done three with faint lines on, so I guess that's a positive!

Woo-hoo, many congrats! GrinThanks

If the faint line has the test colour - blue or pink - you is up the duff! If just greyish and only visible in certain lights, you may not be (prob just an evaporation line). Try First Response if in doubt; I could never get conclusive results in early PG with bog standard tests.

Thanks juniper, have you worked your due date out yet? Mine is the 19th September.

juniper904 · 22/01/2013 20:27

I don't know how long my cycle is as my periods have always been irregular (and December's is the first for 4 years!) but, based on my December one, I think I'm probably due on 23rd September. Good for the school year!
