AF 4 days late - BFN, looks like another CP - any ideas/similar experiences ?...

I am currently TTC DC2 and am pulling my hair out as I am now 4 days late and still getting BFN. I chart BBT so I know exactly when I ovulated and I am now on 15dpo (my LP has been 11 days consistently this year).

I had a CP in June - got several very faint BFPs then AF arrived at 21dpo. I am assuming the same thing is happening this time just without the BFP. I didn't bother testing early as I really wanted to wait until I had a good chance of a 'proper' line so I waited until 15dpo and here I am again - late AF and not PG.

I have a good knowledge of TTC in terms of temps, etc... so I know that I currently have a triphasic temp pattern (but I had this in June too when it all went wrong so am not hopeful this time). This is just something that is an unknown to me - late AF and BFN. I guess it is another CP (but the hormone is already too low to be detected by a HPT). I used a CB test which is supposed to be capable of detecting the HcG hormone before AF due so I assume it is pretty accurate.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has any suggestions as to what is causing this or has had similar experience.

I am absolutey gutted as I lost a baby at 20 weeks PG last year (complications with the cord) and have been trying ever since - hormones took months to settle down, I have been going to acupuncture for over 6 months, I have removed alcohol, caffeine, refined sugar from my diet in a desperate attempt to succeed. I am so low now as I was convinced that this was my month and now my ridiculous body won't even let me get on with my next cycle by allowing AF to start. I have made an appt with GP but fully expect I will be told to go away and keep trying.

Hi go
I'm in a similar boat to you ST the moment. Cd37, bfn, now spotting and I expect AF proper tomorrow. It's hard to know what's going on, my normal cycle is 31-32 days.
I don't really have any advice but I totally understand your frustration and disappointment as I'm feeling that way too.
Hope next cycle brings some better luck to you

Thinking thanks for posting. It is such an emotional rollercoaster. Sorry it looks as if AF on her way for you when you more than likely had your hopes up.

No sign of AF here yet, just want to get on with the next cycle now - am convinced that late MC has completely broken my body as I have fallen PG very easily in the past - now it is a nightmare.

I feel your pain. My cycles are generally regular 26-30 days, last month I didn't get AF till day 44, was tearing my hair out, and that of dh who was convinced I was pg. I got one very very faint bfp but in hindsight it might have been an evap line. I like to think it was a cp if anything though because at least that would mean I can conceive - this is our 10th cycle ttc.

However I did a lot of research on the matter and found that it is perfectly normal for women to have an occasional "annovulatory" cycle (i.e. no egg, all efforts wasted) and when this happens, the cycle is messed up and is typically longer than usual. Sucks, eh? However the good news that it's normal for cycles to go back to normal the following month.

One thing you should do is go and see the gp and start getting tests. Blood tests and SA for your dp are the first ones. I've also had scans and have no answers so far.

Every pg is different and allying pg easily in the past is no reason to believe it will happen easily this time. Over time, it will happen but it my take just that - time! It has taken me 6 years to get here, ending in IVF but the important bit is that I got here! A huge part of getting pg is nature and if the right swimmer doesn't meet the right egg at the right time at the right temp etc then you won't get pg! So really when you consider what has to happen to create that life, it's no wonder it can take a bit if time. Have a bit of faith in your body, keep yourself relaxed and as my doctors told me 'to be actively trying you need to be doing the deed 3x a week EVERY week to cover all bases'

It'll happen for you!!x
