Sex 3 Days Before Period. If Pregnant Will I Still Get My Period?

Hi there,

I don't mean to sound like an uneducated school girl at 21, but I have a question which is proving to me to be quite a difficult one to figure out.

Basically, my partner is in the RAF and comes home at the weekend after being away all week. We make the most of this by spending time with my daughter (from a previous relationship) and when she is fast asleep, finally, in the privacy of the bedroom we... well you know.

I am due to come on my period between 27th August (today) - 31st August. Sometimes even into the start of the month.

However, I was thinking, if we had sex at the weekend (twice, so chances of conception would be higher) would I still get my period if it is due a few days later after having sex? It has really confused me and I cannot find anything on Google to help me. Sorry if it seems like a silly question, but I really just need to know Not that it is a problem either way if I was pregnant or not. We have agreed it will happen when it happens. Any advice would be brilliant.

Thank you

To be honest the chances of conception are slim. Most likely you had already ovulated by the time you had sex and therefore it was too late.

As a rule ovulation occurs 10 to 16 days before your period, and you need to have sperm ready to meet the egg.

If you have managed to conceive this cycle, which is unlikely, you won't get your period. However, as I have said your chances of conception this month is very slim.

I suggest that you start charting and using OPKs to predict your the most fertile part of your cycle, although trying to organise sex with his work will be difficult.
