Anyone have a baby/toddler and about to TTC #2?

DD is 14mo and DH and I have agreed to start TTC number two next month!

I have no idea how difficult it'll be to be pg with a toddler, or cope with a newborn and toddler, but we're both agreed that in the long run we'd like two close together. We still have bedtime battles with DD (not the world's best sleeper) and worry that #2 will also hate sleeping. Are we letting ourselves in for a really hard few years?! But equally, I'm quite excited about the prospect of another :)

Anyone else?

I'm TTC %23 2, my dd is 12 months next wk!!
We have already suffered 2 mc unfortunatly but hope 3rd time lucky, I love the idea of them being close together and you may aswel get the hard years done together right?!
That said my dd is a great sleeper do I've been spoilt and maybe blinded lol

That's number 2, stupid iPhone!

jaffacakehips · 23/08/2012 21:24

DD is 18 months and next week I'll be poas Grin

Been trying for a while Hmm 3 friends of mine about about to have DC2

good luck OP! We are also trying for #2, been 5 months already & nothing yet Sad but hopeful it will happen soon. DS is just 2 so he will be nearly 3 before we get a 2nd. Its a bigger age gap than I'd have liked but hey ho.

WRT dealing with 2, esp with them being close in age - yes the first year will probably be pretty tough. But once you get past that you will likely have 2 LO's who will grow up close & play together! And remember that your DD will be almost 2 before another LO puts in an appearance & she will have already changed so much by then. BT battles may be a thing of the past! But even if they are not, #2 may be so very different. My mum always said I was a nightmare sleeper as a baby/toddler, then my sister came along & slept for England! My DS wasn't the best sleeper either, & was also a chronic EWer so I'm hopeful that #2 will be very different for us too!

I have a ds who is 2 and we are TTC, he was never a great sleeper but is finally sleeping through now! Up until a few months ago it was wake ups a few times a night!

There is a other little thread on this you should join forces Grin

wanderingalbatross · 24/08/2012 09:16

Nice to see some people in the same boat :)

pickles I looked for a similar thread but couldn't find one - can you point me in the right direction? :)

memphis looking forward to the time when DD sleeps through! She wakes up a few times but is really easy to settle now so I'm hoping she'll learn soon.

omama my MIL keeps telling me about how DH was a hard baby, but his little sister was really easy - think she's trying to convince me that #2 will be easier so that she gets more grandkids!

jaffa good luck with the poas, it's an exciting feeling! No-one I know is having #2 yet, but I reckon a few of them are probably starting to think about it too.

kittykats I agree with getting the hard years over as quickly as possible! Hope your #2 will be a good sleeper too :)

It's called those coming along for the ride! Grin

we have 10mo DS and trying for DC2! i've mentioned this to a couple of rl friends who thing i'm mental, but i'm not getting younger (35, sob!) and it took a year to fall pregnant the first time.
DS is a rubbish sleeper and i'm well aware that DC2 may be the same, but i'd rather get all the sleeplessness over with in one go. it would be too cruel to finally get DS sleeping through then have to go back to no sleep again with a new baby!!

crispyjojo · 24/08/2012 20:19

DS is 17 months old and DH and I have just started TTC. Loads of my friends are pregnant at the moment and am v jealous! DH and I would like a brood so want to hurry up and have another one. Am just praying that my body agrees and we can conceive quickly!

posypotato · 26/08/2012 09:11

Hello everyone, could I join you? My LO is 2, and we are ttc#2. Had a mc in June, so hoping for a sticky one next time!

Crispy all my friends are either pregnant or have just had babies too. It's been like a baby avalanche this year!

lollypopsicle · 26/08/2012 09:41

Hello! My DS is 20 months now and we've been ttc no2 since jan. had a chem peg in July which was disappointing but has at least given me hope it can happen again. It only took 3 cycles last time so starting to feel a bit disheartened.
I'm not looking forward to juggling 3 days of work, a toddler and morning sickness/ fatigue etc. that worries me more than the whole coping with 2 thing! We'll all find a way to cope tho :) Really hope this month is our month. Good luck to everyone.

omama · 26/08/2012 13:31

posy - sorry for your loss - hope you get a sticky one this time too.x

lolly - we're currently on cycle 6, last time it took 3 so I too am feeling a bit disheartened, esp as all my friends are either pg or already got #2. I also didn't want too big an age gap between my children, was aiming for 2.5yrs but we're heading towards 3 years minimum now. I read the average time to conceive was 8-9 months so I'm trying not to worry yet. My GP said anything up to 2years was normal & they wouldn't investigate until then so hoping all is ok. Good luck everyone.xx
