Ladies,
Husband and I had a really good go at TTC last month on the old sperm meets egg plan. A week after ovulating, all the symptoms kicked in - mild cramps, headaches, nausea, exhaustion, waking up in the middle of the night, and eventually painful boobs. Usually have a 26-29 day cycle. Tested morning of day 31 and got a BFN, and then later than morning got more cramps and my period arrived. It was brownish to begin with but then became more heavy and some read blood although mainly dark and clotty (sorry if TMI). Was gutted as really thought we'd cracked it this month and was certain i was preggers. Even shed a few tears, thinking I'd had a chemical pregnancy. Bled for 3.5-4 days (my period can go on for 6 days), but now, 5 days after the bleeding started, I feel nauseous again. Food tastes odd and having mild cramps in lower abdomen, waking up at odd times of night and feeling shattered. Am I going potty: do I have a tummy bug, or could I be pregnant? Has anyone else been through anything similar?

Hi littlefilly you do seem to be having symptoms that are associated with pg but they may not be. I've read on here about people who bleed when af is due but who are actually pg. The only way you will know is to do another pg test.

Good luck!

Progesterone (present after ovulation) is the reason for any premenstrual symptoms.

Implantation of the egg in the lining of the uterus typically takes between 6 - 10 days post egg dropping (normally 2 days after the positive OPK test), then it takes about 3 - 5 days for the HCG hormone to show up in your blood / urine respectively.

Which means that (on average) you can only medically have symptoms at a minimum of 11 days post ovulation... :)

Do another test! It's a long boring story, but essentially I was where you are, and am now 25 weeks with DC2. It does happen!

Gosh. Will definitely do another test, but might try and leave until Friday which would be 5 weeks if I am. Trying desperately not to get hopes up again as was so upset to get my period. Thanks to everyone for all the advice. Will keep you all posted x
