ICSI treatment - none of my eggs fertilised. Why?

We are having ICSI treatment for male factor secondary infertility. I had 6 eggs collected, 4 were mature, but they all failed to fertilise. We are obviously gutted. Does anyone know why this would happen?

So sorry this has happened to you, it does happen but not very often. Have you been offered an appointment to speak to a doctor or embryologist at your clinic?
Unfortunately sometimes despite putting the sperm in the right place at the right time either the sperm fails to activate the egg or the egg does not respond to the signals from the sperm.
You said secondary infertility - have you achieved a pregnancy before as a couple?

I'd really advise you to speak to the embryologists and clinicians at your clinic as they have all the details of your cycle and your stimulation regime. There are lots of factors that could play a part.

Yes they're going to send us the next available appointment with the consultant in the post, but I guess that may not be for a few weeks due to summer holidays - ours and possibly theirs.

We have a DD conceived naturally and very easily 5 years ago, and this is our 2nd ICSI treatment.

In the 1st one (9 months ago), they collected 14 viable eggs and 7 fertilised. I had 2 embryos transferred but didn't get pregnant.

This time, despite doing exactly the same protocol, they only collected 4 viable eggs, and none fertilised :(

The consultant said all cycles are different, but this one could be more different than last time :( I don't understand why.
