Help - confusing OPK/BBT situation

Flightty · 23/04/2012 10:27

Ok, this is doing my head in so if anyone has any ideas then please fire away Smile

I'm charting and also using OPK sticks. On Friday I had a huge dip, and then on Saturday a significant temp rise, like, 36.68 to 37.09. But neg OPK.

Sunday, and today I have had positive OPKs and I suppose I have to believe those, because you can't have a surge AFTER ovulation, can you?

But what is going on with the temps? I don't understand. Today's was 37.07 so it's staying up. I'm baffled.

Can anyone shed any light at all? Thankyou x

Oh the shagline doesn't show up, it was cd 12 yes 12, point and laugh.

and wasnt the cervix thing a complete waste of time and handwash? Honestly. Mine behaves like a dancing pixie. It's NEVER in the same fucking place.

Super.
Yes shag line is hiding unless you go and adjust the setting. We are not mentioning shagging yeh...just pant snot.
Cervix, come again? Never found that (seriously).

This is what is helping to fuel my temp craziness - no cervix, no pant snot, no ability to hold enough pee for OPKs, no shagging what it a girl supposed to do?

oceanstwo · 25/04/2012 11:41

This is hilarious!! So much better than all the obsessives at ff!! And don't get me started on the 'experts' there. I stupidly paid for VIP membership last time (v embarrassed about that) and so asks lots of questions to their resident experts (what a bizarre job to have...). The answer every single time was 'wait and see what your temp is tomorrow'. Even on my pregnancy chart they point blank refused to admit that I'd ovulated-boy did it feel good putting in a positive hpt that time :)

And opks are awesome for timing shagging (which my iPhone corrects to 'chafing'..). Get a positive, shag lots for 24 hours, stop. Frees up lots of the month because let's face it, I'd often rather sleep than shag..

Flightty · 25/04/2012 11:54

Chafing Grin that's superb. It's just so true. I think DP is going to begin to see the benefits of the OPK at some point, once he realises that yes, we only really need to shag ONCE a month.

Although he does want to, it just gets a bit onerous when you feel like you've been finely sandpapered. Poor chap Sad

I am feeling a bit wistful about the idea of being an 'expert' on FF and telling everyone who writes in to see what their temp is tomorrow. Face it, it's kind of what I tell myself daily anyway.

Purple, you are missing nothing regards the cervix, it's not, seriously not what they make it out to be. I've had better fun filing my nails. (another reason not to do it)

Flighty-if you're going to become a ff expert you need to stop referring to shagging and talk instead of 'bd-ing'. Because grown women who are shagging (admittedly maybe just once a month but still..) are apparently unable to say the word sex. They will happily discuss pant snot, cervices (what's the plural of cervix-any classical scholars??) and their husbands' sperm counts but the word 'sex' is just a little too embarrassing..

And yes. My cervix is seemingly deaf to what's going on in the rest of my body. Waste of time checking it.

eurochick · 25/04/2012 13:43

I've never been able to find mine. I've tried many times. I think I have short fingers. It must be there cos the dr who did my IUI managed to shove some sperm through it.

Flightty · 25/04/2012 14:16

I'm sure cervices is correct. It has to be, there's no other options. Brings a whole new dimension to Clackett Lane.

Eurochick thats reassuring. I can generally find mine but it seems to bear no relation to what's happening behind it. I've come to think of it as a front for the covert operations taking place within.

She truly has no idea. I think I'll start calling her Patsy.

Some issues to discuss flightty and ocean: going back to the bd-ing observations of yesterday, I have a bone to pick with no one in particular. Despite the fact that I have long-standing non-functioning lady-bits, I was unaware that a crazy online TTC world existed until about two months ago. I came across women talking about PMA - Positive Mental Attitude. My question is - where would an attitude reside of not in the mental bit/brain? Surely not where flightty takes her temp? Second thought though, Patsy seems to have a bit of an attitude.

In other news, still working "in reverse" despite astute observations and near magical predictions of flightty yesterday. Therefore ongoing shag week. PM shag preparations involved me briefly imagining a giant baby (i.e. a four year old) standing in a cot next to the bed. Cheers flightty your kid is bothering me now.

All I have to look forward to at the end of this nonsense is the idea that perhaps I should shag after shag week due the whole ocean -three-days-after-apparent-ov-situation. And we know who I have to thanks for that one.

oceanstwo · 26/04/2012 11:18

Yes my biology/sex-ed teachers failed when they did not inform me of the craziness of ttc. According to them, if I so much as looked at a naked man I would be pregnant with sextuplets. And with whom did women obsess before the internet?? Did they drag around pieces of card with their gynaecological history on as a sort of Stone Age version of their 'signature'? And did they enjoy being able to have a good night's sleep, as opposed to waking at least four times each night before an 'important' temperature??

My ovary (only got the one) has an attitude. Whether or not it's positive has yet to be seen....

And PMA is clearly not required (as my three day post alleged ovulation and many many teenage pregnancies show...).

Glad the reverse mode is still working well ;) Is imagining a four year old as off-putting as shagging when heavily pregnant and imagining a newborn being hit in the head by Daddy's appendage?

Keep shagging! Shag at all moments, particularly when there is no bum snot and negative OPKs. I have a 100% success rate in this area :)

Purpledragon · 26/04/2012 12:25

ocean has you well know in the stone age women were busy fighting dinosaurs.

I can't compare the giant baby in cot to heavily pg bonking. Never got at that close quarters with a tiny human. My double overy set up not yet done the business. It will though I can feel it. Had a bit of morning sickness this morning, then I remembered I am CD 12, it cleared up then. Practice run!

oceanstwo · 26/04/2012 12:54

Weird huh-I've had so many bouts of morning sickness over the last few months. No way I'm pregnant tho (cheers durex). So odd...

Purpledragon · 26/04/2012 14:00

The plot thickens - durex/conception thread, interesting combo.

oceanstwo · 26/04/2012 16:56

It's a long story involving chemo and not being allowed to conceive until now due to the possibility of creating a three headed baby...

Purpledragon · 26/04/2012 17:31

Damn, yes that is to be avoided. Well, having hijacked flightty's thread (come back wherever you are...) I'm looking out for you and your shagging ways. Look forward to sharing more top tips. X

oceanstwo · 26/04/2012 19:31

Indeed but as of next week I am officially no longer toxic so the shagging can commence in earnest ;) x

So flightty, what's the situation? Got your post shag week slippers on?

Ocean, what's the plan? You going to temp, piss on sticks on just plain shag? Is it exciting to get started? You have one girl, right?

Questions, questions...

My chart is still not clear, oh yes forgot "see what your temp is tomorrow" but my guess is shag week is done. Ooooh I have 5 free VIP days on FF, that makes up for everything and likely puts bun in oven in itself

Have a good weekend, full reports due by Monday.... Grin

oceanstwo · 27/04/2012 19:43

Five whole days!! Wow. That's enough time to get two in there purple-get on with it!!

So are you saying you're in the delightful acronym 'tww'?? Will you be analysing every twinge and deciding that the pain in your elbow definitely means you're knocked up??

My (sorry 'our') plan is to do an embryo transfer next week (made pre chemo in case everything got nuked). Then when that doesn't work (I have zero faith in my clinic to even give me the correct embryos..) I shall be peeing on sticks and checking my pant snot regularly to time our shag as optimally as possible :) oh and hoping my cycles stay regular since otherwise OH will be the other side of the world on business and I'll be swimmer-less at the opportune moment..

One girl yes. Who is currently doing some sort of finger painting with butter on my clean work surfaces...

Update required flightty!!!!

Purpledragon · 27/04/2012 20:26

tww - indeed, indeed. I admit I did "ss" one cycle, it only took one to teach me that elbow pain doesn't equal bun in oven. Got over it.

Glad to hear an embryo is sitting waiting (they do sit, right?). And on travel, I'm so confident in my ('our') baby making ability that I'm already complaining bout possible travel interference in shag timing in June.
