Anyone ever had an symptoms of pregnancy before AF was due??

My period is due on Saturday this week (so 5 days time), and I am really hoping we managed to conceive this month.

I am trying to distract myself with work, reading good books on the train etc (to stop mooning about looking out the window...!), but am wondering if I am feeling any symptoms of being pregnant...

Has anyone ever 'felt' anything this early?

I have only been pg once before (early MC in late Jan), and that time a few days before my BFP, I felt really tired, like walking through treacle. No sign of that yet, but have had a few low-down, light, crampy feelings in my womb-area over the last day or so. It's far too early for AF and she never arrives early, so I wondered if these light cramps could be a sign of anything good?

I only have one preg test in the house (mega pricey CB digital) so am not going to use it until Sunday morning, if AF doesn't arrive as expected on Saturday. Well, that's my plan anyway, restraint-pending...!

Any stories to share? Or should I just pipe down and stop over analysing every twinge?! Hmm

Yes, my chart really. I had a massive dip in temp (fabled implantation dip) followed by a huge rise which kept rising started at at 10 dpo. This looked different to my charts before. Also normal PMS for me (night sweats - nice) did not appear. I also felt slight waves of nausea but it was the chart that got me excited. All the best!!

Hi Danger I have never knowingly been pregnant, so I can't help much.
However I too am due on Saturday and planning to test on Sunday if AF is a no show.
I've been having very very mild cramps for the last two days, and spent most of Saturday sleeping.

Anyway, fancy some POAS company?

NeedlesCuties · 19/03/2012 21:42

With my 2nd pregnancy I felt lots of nausea a few days prior to my period being due. I thought I was coming down with a tummy bug or something and was a bit Shock when I got a BFP on the day my period was due as it was only our 1st cycle since I came off the pill.

Turns out that I have hyperemesis in this pregnancy (am 18 weeks) so maybe the early nausea was a sign of that too.

All the best, OP!

Hi. I've only ever had a chemical pregnancy. On the flip side of symptoms, I've had cycles when I've been convinced I was pregnant - tired, sick even vomiting and a gut feeling. After a long time ttc, I have to take my potential symptoms with a pinch of salt. Not to diminish - I hope it is a positive outcome! Just a gentle warning....
Good luck for the weekend :)

wineandcheese · 20/03/2012 10:44

I had some very early symptoms which I didn't register as pregnancy-related at the time but which must have been: extreme irritability (my poor family!), tingling boobs, hunger and (what I thought were) period pains.

KatAndKit · 20/03/2012 10:46

Every time I have conceived I have gone off the taste of coffee and white wine about 4 days before period due. With positive test the next day. I'd save your test for a few days though as 5 days early is pushing it, even if you had a first response test.

Good luck!

LionsnTigersnBears · 20/03/2012 14:05

Dh said he knew I was pregnant with DD1 because I was falling asleep on the sofa again. :-D

DangerMousey · 20/03/2012 14:17

Hey thanks guys, that's interesting to hear!

I haven't had any chronic tiredness yet like I did last time, but I reckon that only started about 3 days before AF was due, so maybe I will nod off at my desk tomorrow...?!

I still have some light crampy feelings so am hoping for the best!

Pipbin, yeah sure, why not? Happy to be POAS buddies. Although have to warn you, i might cave in and test on Saturday morning (the day AF is due), as we're going on a booze/cheese cruise to calais for the day on Saturday, and I wanna know if I am up the stick before wasting all my money on lots of lovely red wine and unpasturisd cheese which I won't be able to eat!

If i get a BFP I will confine myself to the brioche aisle Grin

have a little faith thanks for the gentle warning, I appreciate it - i know I need to get a handle on this ttc madness a bit :) It's horrid having had a MC and wanting to recapture that BFP feeling so badly!

Erm... I knew 5 days prior as I was vomiting everywhere, but it didn't feel like a bug iykwim. I went and got a clear blue and tested. I was pregnant, with twins. Obviously the clear blue didn't tell me it was twins, that was a scan at 5 weeks; clear blue aren't that clever!

funthatisfunny · 20/03/2012 14:38

yes I did with both mine. With DS I was teary, weeing a lot and crampy and tired from the off. he was a surprise and I thought when I found out I was pg I was weeks further along, but my dating scan showed I must have known straight away.

This time, symptoms started the day after apparent conception (planned, using OPKs sort of so I knew when I ovulated) I had a watery horrible mouth, nausea, cramping and total lack of appetite. And no PMS. Was nuts and lo and behold I was preggo.

I would say this with the caveat that I think this is unusual though and I am very sensitive to my hormones (overly so, terrible PMT).

Good luck!

homeaway · 20/03/2012 16:01

Just saying that if you want to cave in earlier super drug do cheapy tests that apparently are very reliable :) Hope you get your bfp

kazzaq · 20/03/2012 22:53

I am due on sat as well.
I've had tiredness, cramps, nausea which only goes away when I eat. I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and this is our 1st try since then.
Trying to hold off testing until Sat.. Fingers crossed

bonzo77 · 20/03/2012 23:04

A lot of the symptoms are due to progesterone. Which is up in the LP anyway, whether pg or not. In my 1st pg I had no idea I was pg till about 6 weeks Hmm. In my second the only clue was massive amounts of watery CM the day before AF due. Tested that day and got BFP on Internet cheapy test strip.

CamelKnees · 21/03/2012 22:41

I had 'womb-ache' when we conceived my daughter (term coined by DH....) Sounds ridiculous to even write it down but that went on for about 4 days and started more than a week before AF was due

Good luck

CamelKnees · 21/03/2012 22:42

Ps Superdrug own brands also gave me bfp 2 days before AF was due

Ellypoo · 21/03/2012 23:32

Superdrug own brands are on offer at moment - 2 x 2packs for £8!

Good luck & fx

DangerMousey · 23/03/2012 08:13

Gah, i am an idiot! Caved in last night and did a superdrug early test, 2 days before AF due. Had been having a weird 'womb ache' like camelknees above, for the last 2-3 days.

But no sign of any kind of line, of course :( Feel really upset this morning. It's our first month of trying properly - with OPKS - since early MC in Jan. You hear so many stories about people being super-fertile after a miscarriage and getting pregnant again really quickly, and I had been really secretly hoping that I would be one of those lucky people. Especially as when I got pg in December (the one I MC'd), I got pregnant the first month we tried.

I can't believe it's nearly April already - the year has just flown by since the MC, and I really hoped to be pregnant again by now :( :( It probably sounds irrational and mad, but getting pregnant seems to be a massively impossible task to me atm -a bout as likely as winning Euromillions. It's not, is it?? Me and DH are both healthly, non smokers in early 30s. It happened first month before - surely we'll be able to get pregnant again soon??

Sorry to rant - just feeling really low today.

Still have slightly odd crampy feeling in my womb, which I wouldn't normally get before my period, so I guess it's not over until AF arrives, but it feels pretty definitely over for me this month now :(

Hugs Dangernousey - I know exactly how you feel. Our baby girl died at New Year when she was 2 days old, and we have been given the 'go-ahead' by our consultant to start TTC again. My AF is due on Monday, so I will be making use of one of the superdrug tests in the morning - deep down though I know it will be a BFN this month, as I had totally forgotten what to look out for! I had also heard that you are more fertile after as your body is 'used to' being pg - really hoping this is true!!

It may just be that you ov a couple of days later this month so maybe it's too early for a BFP yet?? It's not over until the witch pays a visit - fx she doesn't come tomorrow xxx

DangerMousey · 24/03/2012 20:28

Hey Ellypoo, so sorry to hear about your little girl :(

Did you poas today? I am really keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP for you - and if not this month then very soon.

Weirdly, I decided not to POAS: in theory AF was due today, BUT like you say, cos I only ovulated on cd17, I am not convinced this is my true due date for AF's arrival.

It's now 8.30pm and no sign of AF yet - might do a test tomorrow morning as then she'll be officially late....DH doesn't want me to do a test at all! He has asked me to just wait until Weds or Thurs and see if AF arrives (whilst obvs not drinking or eating any funky cheese etc, just in case...). I am not sure I have the willpower for such a wait though :-S

Can kinda see his point though - maybe it would be less stressful to just do it 'old school' and see if my period comes, rather than the anticipation and daily let downs of getting BFNs!!

OP posts:
DangerMousey · 25/03/2012 09:41

OMFG - think I might have got a BFP this morning!!

Period didn't show up yesterday, so I POAS this morning, first thing, and there's deffo a line there. It's not as dark as the control line, but it's definitely a line. Superdrug early test.

Feel very overwhelmed and shocked as I was convinced it wasn't going to work this month. Was very upset on Thursday cos I found out my best friend is 8 weeks.

oh god I really hope this one is a keeper - i feel very different this time. Less ecstatic and panicky, more cautious, I guess that's normal after a miscarriage?? I will take each day as it comes I suppose. I think I will wait till after 6 weeks (when i MC'd last time), until I feel like this is real?? (obvs will not drink or anything though!).

xx

tentative congratulations! It's totally understandable to be cautious after an Mc. I think it'd be wise to tell your GP sooner rather than later and ask for closer monitoring - they can keep an eye on your hcg levels and may offer you an early scan. I will pray this bean sticks :)

bonzo77 · 25/03/2012 22:36

ellypoo I am so so sad for your darling daughter. Two of my friends have had still births (which I realise is not the same), and everyone handles it differently. Both were pregnant again within a year.

danger big congratulations from me too. So those little cramps were implantation after all! I totally understand the note of caution in your post following a mc. I hoping to find myself in your position asap, and I know that I will be on edge from the moment I get a BFP to the second I get a take home baby. Then of course the really worrying starts. I think I would get an early scan if at all possible. I believe 8 weeks is a good time, as you should see a heart beat then (earlier you might not and it would just add to the worry). So that will be in 4 weeks time, which is not long to wait. It's another good reason not to test until AF is actually late: less time to wait for the scan. In my case an 8w scan last time would have diagnosed my mmc 4 weeks earlier and I would have had treatment earlier (and not had it further delayed by xmas/ new year). Just wanted to add that there is very little if anything you can do to prevent mc (unless you have a diagnosed cause of them) because early ones tend to be due to chromasomal abnormalities, if it's sticky it will stick. The only things I would avoid are caffeine (I limit myself to one coffee a day) and very vigorous exercise (quite easy to avoid for me). I
