So, I have been using Amazon cheap OPKs and for a few months I never got a positive. I think part of it is that I drink too much (not alcohol!) during the day. I got so sick of it that I started testing every wee I had! I then discovered that the only one where I got a positive was the second wee of the day just before leaving the house to go to work.

This month I have been sure to test this one. I thought that those women who never seem to get a positive may be interested in the results of my not very scientific experiment.

Sunday 6pm, negative, no line
Monday 2nd wee, negative, faint line

Monday 6pm, negative, no line
Tuesday 2nd wee, positive, strong line
Tuesday 6pm, negative, clear line but not strong enough by a long way.

Which goes to show that if I had only tested in the afternoon as recommended I would have missed the surge.

I've had strong positives at night and in the morning.

I never use fmu as the hormone isn't in your system yet.

I would definitely recommend the cb smiley opks, so easy to read!

I also had positives for two days running this month, so definitely didn't have to test with every wee or miss the surge. Maybe you just have a v short surge?

You should test after not drinking or weeing for 4 hours. Hard I know but that's the only time I've ever got a positive.

I recommend the cb digis as there is no mistaking that smiley! I have tested at all times of day but tend to now test at 2.30pm.

I agree that concentrated urine is the best for any type of stick pissing action, regardless of the time of day.

The best thing to do is to pee into a cup then you can inspect the goods and see if it is a good sample before you use a stick on it.

The best time for one person may not be the best time for another person. Everyone is different after all.

You really need to not drink anything for 2 hours before testing - and catch the wee in a cup like Kat says.

I don't bother testing unless the wee (in the cup) is properly yellow - pale wee is always going to give a negative.

Although, it is true that some women have a very short LH surge so it may only last for a few hours on one day - makes it hard to catch the surge.

Although I don't always catch the strong lines, I do tend to get varying degrees of faint lines around when I am expecting to ov, so I just accept that I can't POAS any other time of day [I do it when i get in from work as i always need a wee then for some reason] and take the faint ones as +ves.

Fwiw I don't get faint ones at any other time in my cycle except when I'm expecting ov so I don't really see why I can't take them as confirmation [waits to be proved wrong ]

Buggerlugs My second wee is after I get in from my run, or just before I leave the house to go to work. So about 7 or 8 am.

I get my positives in the morning too. I've tested several times of the day when peaking and despite good concentrated wee and not peeing for hours, I only get positives in the morning.
I have read that some people peak at different times to others.
